Sir,
My son suffered frm severe chest infection last week. Due to tht he had breathing problem for which doctor advised for a nebulizer . we did it twice in a couple of hours. After keeping the nebulizer he was quite ok . Again we went to our doctor. He is advising us to put influenza and pneumonia vaccine. Is it necessary for him. Will the same problem get continued......thanks in advance

Newer vaccines are very useful,but they are very expensive. They will not prevent asthmatic attacks ,but may reduce the frequency of wheezing episodes .

My daugther is 14 month old , but she is still not standing or walking by herself .She holds on to the furntiure and gets up and walks but not independtly what can I do .Everybody in the family is blaming me for not taking care of her

Most kids walk before 18 months of age.Show your daughter to your doctor again.If he feels her development is within the normal range then you don't have to worry.Definitely you are not to be blamed for the delay.But I feel your baby will be running in another 2 months time. So don't worry.

my 7 week old baby has been diagnosed with heart murmur but the doctor says that there is nothing to worry. He said that to rule out any fear we should show to a pediatric cardiologist.
I want to know about heart murmurs and why are they caused? Secondly what all tests will the cardiologist refer to and are they safe for my child?

Doctor will do a non invasive test -echo cardiogram-Doctor will be able to tell you immediately if any defect is noted.

Sir,
My son is 3 yrs old . 15 days before he had ear pain and fever due to cold . we consulted doctor and gave medicines. Again after 1 week he had fever and we took him to doctor. he siad its due to climete change. yesterday he had fever severely in afternoon and night again. once we give crocin fever is reduced. sir , do i want to ubdergo any test for him.

We don't recommend tests unless the fever is there for at least 3 to 4 days.Let your doctor decide about when to do the test.

I am shameema (working), mom of a 11 months old boy baby.
My first question is my son is not at all drinking water, at times if he drinks it will not be more that 30 ml. But he drinking milk normally.
And my second question is, he is screaming and shouting a lot. Please advise

No need to worry about not drinking water.Milk contains 90% water.Whenever he screams you talk to him in very low tone(like talking secretly).If you do this regularly he wont shout .

How can I make him to talk all words, please suggest me doctor.

If he can hear and understand well He will eventually start talking in sentences.Delayed speech runs in some families.

My cousin's son is of 1.5 years old now and he can't hold is neck firmly and he is unble to stand also.At the time of birth,he was weak and cried after 4 days.So what might be the problem for this and kindly let us know what is the treatment for this.

Child is suffering from cerebral palsy,Which is probably due to problem baby had during the first week of life.That has affected the growing brain and has caused irreversible damage to the brain.Development will improve with physiotherapy in special centres for such children.

Not a must that you must give cod liver oil cap. to improve immunity.Vegetables like carrot will provide Vit.A and exposure to sunlight 10 min a day will provide Vit.D I do not believe in the claims of advertisers of Pankajakasturi

Im writing this mail with a heavy heart of any mom who would his child falling sick often...My son is 11 months old from his 6 months he has freqquent loose motion which finaally ended up finding lactose and sucrose intolerance..which happpened in september..from then on he was ok with loose motion and immediately had a very rogh fever ,then twicw cold...from june till december he gained only 1 kg...pls ..pls advice

Don't worry. Some children have less immunity than others.So they go through episodes of recurrent infections.Eventually they will develop immunity on their own.It may take a few years.As long as the development is normal child can easily catch up with the weight.

My daughter is 3 years 9 months. she is going to school (pre-kg). My problem is she doesnt like anything to eat apart from Chips and kurkure. what ever i keep in her box for lunch...(usually its chappati, dry grapes, dates or pomogranut) returns back. she does not like puri, idli, dosa or other fried items. only by force she eats. she doesnt drink water also..as a result her urine is concentrated. please help doctor

Most of Chennai moms face this situation everyday!Even if your child starves it wont become weak but giving her junk food everyday will make her so. Once your daughter knows that she is not going to get junk food then she may start eating normal healthy food.Eating time must be a happy time.So no need to force her all the time.Probably 5 days a week let her have her way and the remaining 2 days you can have your way!

Hello Sir,
I am a mother of twins.My daughter has been suffering from severe cough for the past 2 days.She was saying that her throat is itching, and burning.She is 5+ yrs old and also says her throat is paining due to coughing, she had mild fever, so i asked the doctor and gave p250 and Zyr Cold syrup(3.5 ml),But she still continues to cough.she had vomiting few days back but then vomiting had stopped.
Kindly pls suggest me wat to do now, can we give normal diets?

My son all of a sudden got some allergic kind.Full rashes on his body.We went to the doctor today morning he told it might be because of some insect bite.He prescribed Benatryl allergic formula.Now after having this syrup he is vomitiing whatever food he takes in.
Is it normal?

It is not normal.Please consult your doctor again.Rashes may subside in 2 days but some times it may take up to two weeks.

Weight is perfect.You have mentioned height incorrectly.Expected height is 106 to 108cms.As long as the baby is active nothing to worry.You must be concerned only if the baby eats too much! De worming medicine can be given every six months.

My name is Subha and I hve a son who is now 15 months old.
Myson passes motion around 5 to 6times in a day (hard stools sometimes semisolid). But of late his anus has become very red in colour and is very hot. Everytime after passing stools he starts crying.
When i consulted with my pediatrician they said it i ok if he passes stools for these many times as long as it is not loose motion.(though i didnt ask abt red colouretc., as it is very recent occurance). What to do?

You please visit your doctor again.Child could be having fissure .Doctor will prescribe a suitable cream for the fissure to heal.Not a serious condition.

It must be Mantoux test .It is a screening test for childhood TB(primary complex)-a very common condition which can be cured completely by medicines.

I'm adviced to give fruits like hill banana,apple,orange,musambi and pomogranate to my 8 month old baby.
1. Should I have to boil the fruit n give to my baby either as juice or as a mashed form.
2. Can these be given during raining season like now..

You can give fruits any time of the year.You can give either way.No need to boil any of the fruits in your list except apple(for initial few months)

My daughter is 20 months old. She is yet to walk on her own - she moves around with walker and holds my hand and walks in the street. She talks words, understands most of the things, etc. Her doctor checked her legs during her immunisation visit and said...all ok and she wud start walking on her own. According to my mom, I walked around 2 years only.
Could you give your suggestions or some tips regarding this?

You have not mentioned if your child was premature and the birth weight to make comments.For a normal term baby with a birth weight of more than 2.8 kg you expect the baby to walk without support by 18 months of age.Please consult your doctor once every month till she walks.

Your doctor is correct..There is as such no safe treatment .Problem runs in some families.All of them become normal by 10 to 14 years of age.

your doctor is right.We call it noisy breathing which can continue for another few months.As long as there is no cough no need for any treatment.
