Makkals..
Jus seeing th topic, u can conclude ...what this blog is all about .. I was a chubby child and till 10 th i was very fat .. then lost much of weight due to my father's demise and i was 56 for may be 8 years .. no increase/decrease
I was a pakka non veg and cannot eat wid out birds .. wen i joined ABN i was compelled to eat veggie .. and dunno wht happened, may be bcoz of my sedentary life style and eating heavy food at night wid un limited sweets .. i was gradually adding on pounds and one day i reached 72 with out even understanding wht went wrong ..
all my friends used to tease me (gundoos was common name).. i looked very gigantic .. no clothes fit .. i was feeling very bad .. i tried to reduce weight before pregnancy .. so went on a crash diet (makkals pl don follow this) .. i ate 1 idli in th morn, only fruits for lunch and night soups . i am a foodie and was very difficult time for me and i starved day and night and i lost 5 kilos in 2 months .. but end result .. my c5 c6 neck bone got narrowed down.. due to calcium loss and i was in treatment and even now i cannot do much of work..
Leaving all this aside.. in preg i put on 16 kilos .. i was eating and eating and after preg i again gained weight coz i was feeding and was eating all fatty food ..My mother was very generous giving me food and my MIL suspected tht i don get milk, so used to give me all possible things to eat .....u gals wanna know how i looked
i was77 kilos ..i was thinking 1001 ways to lose weight .. used to see all commercials and checked out websites .. to lose weight,i cannot diet coz i was feeding .. just when i was beginning to accept myself and be okay wid th size of what i am .. i started loving myself and to be patient with it ..n no much tensions in mind
then it happened .. my hubs had ankle fracture and we were staying in our in laws house for 2.5 months.. good thing in bad ..
at my in laws place i had time for myself .. Weight loss is not supposed to be a rapid thing if you’re doing it the healthy way. I was committed to not just losing the weight, but I was serious about achieving a healthier mindset as well.
Emotional health was important for me .So I’ve been taking things slow, incorporating exercise when I can and trying not to beat myself up when I “fail” ..
And th plan which worked
Morn i took a glass of warm water with slimmer honey and lime without brushing
and 30 min later .. my break fast .. 3 idlis .. (chutney ..mint or sambar n not coconut or peanut) and coffee wid half sugar
every 2 hrs i ate a fruit or rasam or butter milk or juice wid out sugar ...
lunch time .. 1 glass of rasam or butter milk or water, 1 carrot or a fruit and then a cup of rice and vegetables with min oil
eve .. sundal, or fruits or pop corn or roasted grams or jus 2 plain marie biscuit and a coffee or tea
and night .. again a glass of water or butter milk and 3 chapathi wid veggies or dhall .., i ate 4 hrs before my sleep
th idea behind tht was .. stomach to be full all th time .. but wid out much calories.. i drank 5 liters of water
Important of all .. i walked for 1 to 1.5 hrs a day .. was real tiresome for a week but later got adjusted.. some days i dint walk .. it was ok ..
so, i lost 14 kilos in 3 months ..
After that i resumed my regular eating and stopped exercise(because I was so tired). A few kilos came back but I was expecting it. It wasn’t so much about the numbers on the scale as it was about detoxifying my system, I FEEL better and less burdened.
Makkals, don be deperate .. eat healthy and try to walk 3 times a week .. and in due course u will def lose weight.. n even if u dont .. don get depressed .. as tht will again add on kilos...
Mantra .. Lot of water !!! it really helps !!! and of course a positive mind set ...
If you hear a voice which says u cannot play the violin .. go ahead and play .. and the voice will be silenced ...
ps:
don eat rice item at night and eat 4 hrs before u go to bed
avoid milk bread, instead use wheat bread..
poorna rice bran oil is good .. it observes less
avoid sweets n savories .. if u cant resist u can have one ..
avoid ravai .. use samba ravai
avoid pickels, appalam n chips ......
Tea time snacks
U can munch all these puffed items (puffed rice, puffed wheat, puffed lotus seed(guess!) (u get it in nilgris)
as usual sundal( black one and not th hybrid)
wheat sandwiches (fat free mayonaisse)
chicken soups , mixed veg soups
sprouts ..
fruits lik papaya. guava, water melon
butter milk , curd (from toned milk)
things made wid oats (kanji, sweet (sugar free))
boiled potato (wid masala (don fry it))
salads..
v true... i had put on lot of weight during my marriage & most of my relatives were teasing me..i felt little
but accepted. Bcos it was my fault that i did nt care abt my health for abt 1year before marriage & after i quit my job. My SIL said to my hubby "sandhoshatley gund ayeta". I was 70kg. But then after marriage i took care of my health & tried to eat on time. Have healthy food. Daily fruits & bottles of water. Do all my household work.Nw i have reduced to 65 kg...
gr8 sangita... ur attitude of trying to become healthy and not just losing weight is very positive... :) thx for sharing....
Hey Sangita, looks like those "before" and "after" pics we see in the weight-loss ads..Super..!
U know what, i put on more than 20 kilos at full-term..and got it pretty harsh from my gynaec too, for that huge weight gain.. I was travelling about 6 hrs a days, during that period.. still i put on that weight, and more.. and finally, before delivery, i weighed a massive 83 kg..
I came down upto 53kg some 2 yrs back.. now i m at it again..Ur routine mentioned is pretty decent and feasible.. gud job..! But how did u manage with 1 idli..
previously.. ayyo...
U r a tall, confident and beautiful koondhal azaghi...
