Ours is a arranged marriage . Karthik's parents approached my parents for horoscope and everything worked out and they told us that on coming Monday @ 6.30 pm will come and see me . Sunday arrived and i was doing oil massage to my hair .

landline phone bell rang @ 11.30 am.Dad picked up the phone and i could hear that he was saying "onnum problem illai , time confirm pannuge" and he was directing route to our house .
Me - phone le yaaru pa ,
Daddy - Mappillai veetu le irundhu phone pannaghe,innike chennai vandutangala (as their native is nammakal) , inniku evening ponu pakalama nu kettange , serinu solliten ".
Me - appa , inniku mudhiyadu pa, rombha work iruku...(actually not mentally prepared )
Amma - amange , non-veg vera vangitom (amma ku andhe kavalai) , appuram nalla nal , neeram ellam parkanume?
Daddy - on seeing calender , iniku nalla nalu dhan , time dhan confirm pananum?
Again phone bell rang ...., time is 11.55 am.
Daddy - Ok, ok, seri neenge station vandhone , ennaku call pannunge , na ange vanduren ..Thanks.
Daddy to mom - Evening 6.00 clock varangalam..
mom - oh apadiya ,seri prabha (me) , unaku saree lam ready iruke illa..
Me - Saree yum illai , onnum illa ..Inniku ennaku rest vennum..
Mom - evening varaikum rest dhan di unaku..
Me -

After that mom and dad got busy with their own works and i had head bath and time was 2.15 pm.Mom prepared Chicken biryani , had good lunch and was relaxing , time was about 3.15 pm..

I went to sleep and was planning to get up by 4.30 to get ready . again , phone bell rang ... time was 3.45 p.m.

Dad to me - Prabha , elundri (get up) ,poi ready aagu ,  30 mins le mappillai veetule vandurvange ...
me - appa , idhu too much pa ...enna pa ippadi matti matti time sollurange ?
amma - en ippadi kolapurange ...
Dad - pesuradhu ku time illai, poi ready aagunge ..
amma to me - Prabha , first nee poi ready aagu , saree neat ah kattu ..
me - amma pls.. saree lam katta mudiyathu , only chudi ...
amma - yei yei , ippadi sollada di ..beero le chain , bangles lam vachiiruken , poi potuko..

I was so much irritated of not enjoying my sunday so without any interest started getting ready ... In 15 mins time, i could hear Dad welcoming them..

I could hear one male voice and one female voice speaking to my Dad . They started talking about own families and were exchanging their thoughts.
They said , that their son has to go office by 7.00 p.m , so only they came soon.. i was hearing this and was like Urr......

My mom called me , as i was in the other room . Immediately i came out of the room and i said "vanakam" and sat on the empty chair.

I could feel that everyone were starring at me..

I saw my mom and mom was staring at me , u know why , bcoz i was wearing a dull old chudidhar with no special make-up , just same stud / bangles and noflower.. my mom was gng on staring at me .. i couldnt control my laughter there ...

Meer silence  for few minutes , no one was asking anything to me, i didnt get a chance to see mappillai . Finally my MIL asked me what time i go to office and come back , i replied her and gave a quick look at mappillai ,
my God ,he was so tall(he is 6.1 nd me just 5.1 ) .. and he was starring at me...

My Dad asked me to go inside ..FIL interruped and checked with his son , whether he wanted to ask me something .. i guess he said NO .
So for formality ,my Dad asked me , if i wanted to check something , he was guessing , i would say NO, but immediately , i put a question to mapilai,
Me - "Ungaluku general shift illaya , night shift dhan naa" .

Everyone reaction were like  , mappillai was blinking like anything .. i could see  Dad face full of anger...
Then a bold  voice broked the silence , of course it was mappillai voice ,
Mappillai -"ennaku general shift dhan , enn kekuringe" ,
Me - I immediately replied "Illai , 7 clock office ponnum nu sonnage , adhan ketten "
Mappillai - "Yaaru sonna"
Me - Dont know whom to point , as i heard that from other room..

Dad immediately to manage the situvation , asked me to go inside the room...I went inside and i was just thinking about the blunder mistake  , mom entered my room with MIL . MIL sat besides me and started asking question like about cooking and asked me about my height ... i told her i was 5.1 and she said all in their family were above 5.8 , at that point itself i thought ok ok , this will not work out..

FiL called MIL and they discussed something and said to my Dad , that in 1 week time , they will come with full family and visit once again ,i was like

Finally , FIL and MIL said "Varen ma " to me and started to leave ..my Dad also went with them to leave them...

As soon as they left the place , my mom in high voice , "Enn di ippadi senje, unnai saree dhane kattike sonnen" ,in the meantime , my dad was back and asked me "Kandipa andhe question kette aaganuma unaku".. both were repetedly questioning me   but i was enjoying their actions .

Mom & Dad were confirmed that this alliance will not work out and mom was telling the whole story to my sister in phone . Days passed out and in 10 days also we didnt get any calls from them , so my father thought it was over and was blaming me for the incident ..

So days were going like this,  one day i got a call to my office number ..
Me -"Hello"
Other side voice --"Neenga lakshmi Prabha dhane"
Me - "yes"
Karthik - "Naan karthik pesurange"
Me- "Endhe karthik"
Karthik -"Ungale last sunday vandu parthen le"
Me - managed somehow and then "hmm sollunge"
Karthik - he said something like this "that his parents couldnt reach our landline no  , so he somehow traced my office no"
Me -"ok"
Karthik - "Eppenge engagement vachikulam , i mean appa ketka sonnaru"
Me - no sound for a miniute  , after managing i told something like this  "Will inform Daddy and he will get back to you"
Karthik - Bye .
Me - Bye

I was confused for a minute , didnt know how to react , then immediately i called my home landline number to inform Dad , as said , it was out of order , so i started early from office and reached home.

Me - "Appa, Karthik phone pannaru pa, eppo engagement vachikulam nu kettange"
Dad was blinking and then i told about the full incident ...After that my Dad called his parents and confirmed the same.

Dad & mom were very happy and in 2 weeks , our engagement date was fixed.On engagement day , i heard MIL saying to my mom  that "ponnu rombha casual and open aah pesura , payyan ku ponnu rombha pudichu poochu , adhunale kalyanam seekiram vachidulam" . My mom was saying "seri seri " and she was blushing like anything and after they left , Dad and mom were prasing me like anything...

Like this my marriage life started and running successfully ...
