Hi frds,
It is really a tough time for me to decide abt my daughters education. Please help me with ur suggestions. Here comes the reason for my confusion:
Last year (ie 2010 - 2011) academic year we admitted Akshaya in Anna Adarsh Matric school in LKG when she was under 3 years(I did not know at that time most of her class mates where born in 2006 and were senior to her). Now for matric syllabus that too LKG itself they hav english , tamil, hindi, maths (both oral / write) . As I give her continuous practice, she has done well in her quat / halferly exams. Really I dont wish to force her to read/ write, but unknowning I will start to compel her 1 mnth before the exam starts.( I dont like myself at that times, but cant stop it.......). Pavam akshu, she will adjust a lot with me at those times.
Now in last nov, dec we tried in CBSE school LKG admissions, even she did well to her max but we did not get into those top schools. We got in Velammal and schram but did not wish to send her so long from lkg itself and in Schram we are not interested to pay 1L for LKG.
Now my prob is:
1. Whether to repeat her in LKG in Anna Adarsh(Her class miss is telling she will pick up and dont waste 1 yr) and what I think is, in future portions will be more and will she be able to compete with her senior class / school mates?
2.or let her be promoted to UKG?
3. Is the CBSE education will be the best?
I m really worried and frustated whether I m spoiling her life......Help me to decide..
Hi,
I want to say that no mother can spoil their kids' life. So do not think that way
My suggestion is let her continue her lower KG for one more year and let her be in par with other kids in her class. So later she can compete well with her class mates. Not only her studies, she can be physically equally strong when she come into sports and other activities
CBSE is relatively tough and i m planning to put my daughter in CBSE LKG next year. I heard it is more of application knowledge to other syllabus.
Is schram asking for 1L now? My son is in ukg and when i admitted him lkg, they asked for Rs.45000 as one time fees. Apart from that the yearly fees (that comes to Rs.8000 per term) and Rs.10000 (for books, uniforms etc) should be paid every year.
The main diff between matric and cbse (as far as I understand) is matric is very bookish. You can pass if you learn the book that is given. CBSE is not like that. And I think it covers more portion given a class. So it's a bit tougher, but it allows kids to learn than to by-heart.
Studying in one class lesser is not bad. It's better you put her in LKG now than later in higher classes.
viji...I too go with manobala...
Let your kid be again put in LKG for the next year as well. Also, I have hearing from many of my friends who are parents...that lot of moms are putting their kids as per the CBSE age rules even in matric syllabus..in those kinds of kids, there picking up capability is very high itseems compared to the kids in the class who are below)
So, just donot mind or worry to waste a yeat(ideally its not the wasting period...this time..she will try to masterise on the things that she has already learnt....so moving on further with this level of confidence would built up her spirits to higher level)....so invariably she would be bright student (getting this image...would help her to or rather motivate to stay in that limelight only)...hence its good for both to you aswell as to your kid...
Hence, my advice would be to put her again in LKG for next year too...
As a mom, I'm not too experienced in this area because my daughter is only 2 months old. But my personal feel is, please dont allow her to repeat the same class if it is the same school. In future, it might kind of demotivate her. Allow her to move on to UKG. Infact, in future, she would feel proud that she was one of the youngest in the class and was able to cope well with her senior class mates.
I was an under-age during my school days - the youngest from school till college. Never did I have a problem with studies. But, I feel today that if I had studied in CBSE, I could have done even better during college where there was more stress on application oriented stuff - which Matric / State Board do not stress on. In matric you can mug up (even the problems are straight lift from the book) and get good marks
CBSE / ICSE is always better!! Good luck on your decisioning :)
My son is jus 2 months short for LKG. He already done with Pre KG now we got application for Omega INternational school for PRe KG again. The reason they told was if the age is not correct during public exam they may have to study 9th std one more yr ( it public exam pattern exists ) putting in Pre KG one more year no harm. so I suggest you to go with CBSE school advice if you are going to change or continue also. Now the kid dont feel if she studies one more yr or so but in later once she grows up to study one more yr is a problem
All the Best... Dont wry
Whats ur kid DOB?
I was the youngest in my school days and did well....now my kid is youngest in her class and till now no issues...months difference will not make much difference especially when they grow up...
If DOB is b4 30th of June, then ther wont be any problem...People survive or excel all bcoz of their talent and attitude not bcoz of anything else..(of course with God's help)...U can go ahead with UKG.
ICSE/CBSE are good than matric...Good Luck..no mother would think of spoiling their own kid's future...
age qualification for appearing for the 10th exams of state board ( ofcourse now with samachir kalvi it is applicable for state board , anglo-indian & matric syllabus too) is that the student should have completed 14 years as on the 1st day of the month in which the board exam is conducted . THIS IS THE CASE ONLY WITH TAMILNADU . If you see karnataka they made the eligibility as 16 Years from the academic year 2010-2011. So regarding the age eligibility for high school exams will be decided bu the state only .
but always CBSE is better for one reason it makes the kid explore the education instead of just making them remembering things just for their exams & them conveniently forgetting it.
whichever u decide confirm the baby is not travelling for longer time till her primary is completed.
