Moms, I missed all your calls on Sunday. Myself and my husband were going out for brunch at 11AM when Sayee called me. It was the first call I received since morning. I received/called about 20 calls till 11 AM the previous sunday !

I felt the event was more like a family function where all kids walked the ramp with their mothers as they would be on the stage during the marriage/engagement function in a family. With all family members doing things at the function - chair arrangement, stage decoration, reception, running around to do the tasks, asking what they could do next etc.

I conciously didn't mention anybody's name at the event - both at the welcome address and thanks note as I know it's going to be a looooooooong one :) I don't want to talk from 3-7 thanking e'one :)

I missed the November month meet up: http://www.chennaimoms.com/blogs/6916/posts/17330-preprations-for-the-new-year-event. Initially I thought it'd be like every monthly meet, but later realized that more moms are interested in the new year bash.

Since the date was decided in the november month meet, we started hunting for the venue... Aishwarya, Bhavya, Shylaja, Sayee, Vaidehi, Uma were all part of it ! Finally we settled on Alumni Club that Uma suggested. Only this hall had the stage, dressing area, A/C and above all the food for reasonable price.

I started calling few people who would sponsor the event - all those who were suggested by Vaidehi and Shobana.

Sudha prepared the poster, handout and tickets for the event. Sayee did the jigina work to make it more colorful :)

When we met on Dec 19th we had only 21 moms who have confirmed they'd come for the Jan bash and there was no sponsors for the event. It was in this meet up that Shylaja volunteered to take up the responsibility of the whole event management. Aiswarya and Jaishree had to sacrifice their interest to participate in any competitions as they are going to take up compering along with Bhavya. Kudos to both of you.

In 2 days I got a call from Bhavani (Lekha) saying she got the sponsorship from Madangi constructions, Saidapet. Hurray ! Jaishree arranged for sponsorship from oriflame and another sponsor from her friend. If I have not mentioned so far - The Gifts to the Judges were all SPONSORED BY JAISHREE. Thanks Jaishree. Thanks to Bhavani (lekha) for sponsoring the chocolates for the kids. Thanks to Gayathri Anand who sponsored even though she couldn't make it for the event. Then came the sponsors from Little Angels, Kanchana paati, Go-wow and United India Insurance.

Vaidehi and Sayee took the responsibility of the programs and participants list, Gayathri and Deepa took incharge of the accounts, Sudha for the games, Jaishree and Bhavani(Lekha) for the gifts, Radika and Hasina for the Decoration of the backdrop and the hall, Uma and Shylaja for the hall, food and the overall event. Sumathi Govind, Vidya Ram, Penitia, Ramya, Amritha, Anita volunteered for any help thats needed.

Thanks to Radika and Sudha to refer me to different resources who published about our event. There was a very good response from outsiders too!

Vaidehi arranged for the wonderful cake that her mom baked. Aiswarya and Gayathri hunted for a women videographer and finally settled for a male unable to find a women through reliable sources. Jaishree arranged for the table cloth, plates etc that I informed her on saturday morning when she was collecting the bouquets for the winners at the flower shop !

Thanks to Hasina for the wonderful logo that decorated the backdrop. Radika took incharge of the baloons, tattoo and other decorations.

Nisha was feeling very bad that she cdnt do anything for the event... so I requested her to design the certificate. She and her son Ranju actually drew the children faces on the certificates that we gave to the kids.

And finally thanks to all the moms and kids who made it for the function. The event was a success bcoz of all of you. All I did was to take your calls, listen to your updates !

The event didnt just end there... sudha SMSed me promptly asking me to send updates to the newspapers and magazines :)

For the first time , our Bhavani has written a BIG Answer !!! avalukku oru ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh podunga pa ...

After reading all this...

I feel so guilty that all i m doing is read these blogs, and nothing else. I so much wish to be part of any future event, though what i ve missed this time, can never be replaced..

Actually, i thought of taking a day off on Saturday, and join in, but since i cud read thru blogs, of so much of planning and organising going on back and forth, i thought it may not be fair on my part to just go, like attending a wedding..! Living in interior Adambakkam is another disadvantage, not to attend the event, but to involve in any organising, after office hours..

Ok, next time i hope i will overcome any excuses that crop up in my mind, and do my bit.

Bhavani ---- thanks for the detailed response. Thanks Sudha for initiating the bash idea.....I think for the next one, all those who could not participate should complete go ahead and rock and we will sit back and help with hosting, games etc etc.....by then....Sayee will also have her baby and maybe can dance too. :)

I really admired some mothers who just sat and enjoyed and encouraged us and it was good to see so many mothers who had accompanied our members. Volunteers were great too.

Really it was fun. Though i could not stay till the end i enjoyed every moment there. Thanks for organising and giving a break to moms like me from our routine.

Lets have fun. I was telling Bhavani that maybe we should have one meetup all for ourselves and she actually said that most moms would not turn up without the kids.

this is the first time in my life i am holding a mike. I was too tensed .  But i really enjoyed the moment .

nisha, hehe.....same blood, at school pple hardly kw me by name, i am cald "non-stop nonsense" or "chatterpillar". Naa pesa aaramicha, ippavey yen paiyan kaadha mudikaran.... But ulagamey comment panalum, we / I cannot stop the chatting........

I am happy that there are pple ready to appreciate our lllloooooooonnnnnnngggggggg feelings & also honor us with different title (karumbhu thina kooli maadhiri)

moms... I forgot to write the story about the sashe !

I spoke to Hasina and she suggested me to enquire if any tailor would stitch. But the tailors needed a model and didnt know what to charge etc. I thank my sil - amra (her cmoms screen name) who volunteered very enthusiastically to stitch the sashe. After stitching, how to write the words? Radika and Jaishree took the responsibility to call and get the cost and how long it'll take to screen print, fabric paint etc. They all turned out to be costly.... We didnt know what to do for the Ms.ChennaiMoms words to be written on the sashe.... Then our buzzy (i think i am just going to forget your name gayathri !) said she'll take care of the writting. I handed over the sashe to her on friday afternoon (almost evening) and she got the letters written on chart, cut and pasted on the sashe and the sashe looked great on our moms on sat ! Thanks to my sil, gayathri, radika and jaishree....

Then about the volunteers badge... Hasina called me in the afternoon and asked if I could come over to her place. I said i'll come after having my lunch and went to her place.. there she greeted me with the badge - with my name on it and pinned on to her ! The white badge with the pink outline was just great. Thats the first and last thing I did anything on the decoration part... It's all Radika and Hasina who took the responsibility after that.

I'll keep adding the small small stories like this as and when I remember...

Like our very own Bhoomi Matha, Mother Earth, the best aspect of Motherhood is Patience. I am sure we can achieve wonders by being patient and wise. So, be patient and always smile as it enhances your face value - My Response.

A lot of them answered Patience ----- Sacrifice ----- The baby's smile ----- Love etc. I am sure they would be willing to write their answers themselves.

That's one neat write-up with all the details,literally took me to the day!

And the person who helped me out was Amirtha, and here i have to thank all those who helped me on that day: Sayee(the TALL person she is, helped me put out letters on such a height), Penitia( the first one to come on that day),Sudha,Sumathy Govind(didn't have much time to interact) and Amirtha(with balloons).

Moms,all the credits that i've got  regd decoration shd go to Hasina only,Hasina a BIG thanks to u,without her nothing wud've been possble,mind you, only decoration dept. was worrying Bhavani alot!

Uma,for such a big hall,the kids had their own time running around and the snacks were also good!

All the participants were too good,i only thought if there were many Chennaimoms memebrs for participation,it would have been even more big:)

There were many new moms,whom i met on that day Vaidehi,Madavi,Sumathy Govind,Chitra, Sangita,Subha,Rajula,Ramya,Jaishree hope to know them more in coming days.

On the whole,the event was full of fun!

Best aspect as per me would be sacrifice as I automatically started sacrificing my sleep soon after my daughter's birth. I have experienced this as a daughter from my mother and i am doing the same to my daughter now

Ore oru varutham.....I felt very bad becos that top fit me so well in 2006 October when I bought it for a Dance competition for office. Now, I wonder if I will ever be able to get into it but I will very soon.

Just after writing this, I am realising that 3 yrs have passed by since the time I was able to fit myself into it.

But spent a few mins reading bot the Mamma Mia event & yo! , i wish i was in chennai to witness this amazing event . I live in Blore & 'm now a part of Blore moms.. but im not sure if its as exciting as it is in Cmoms ...
