I happened to be on a 2-episode shoot of Neeya Naana(Vijay tv) and Kannadi(Jaya tv). Here are my experiences with both!

Vijay Tv's Neeya Naana hosted by Gopinath:

We were asked to be there by 8AM! And they started the show at 12 noon! We were asked to be outside the actual shooting room which is literally outside in the air near a garbage area where they've dumped all the building/chairs ruins! Well, there wasnt enough chairs to sit down too.... The a/c was switched on only when we entered the hall and we were sweating till the a/c caught up.

The show started and whoever was smart enough to shout aloud and get hold of the mick were able to make their comments while all others remained silent!

The a/c was so cold after 1 episode's shoot and we were all freezing inside. We all had headache bcoz of hunger, freezing cold air from the a/c :( Finally they were kind enough to give us a break and have a cup of tea (that they served) around 4.30 pm (from 8 am, this was the only consideration they had on the participants). Well they gave some biscuits and some water too (They water was in a mineral water bottle, but the seal were already opened, so I didnt drink it!). Finally the show ended around 6 pm and they invited us for lunch :) but naanga thapicha pothumnu odiye vanthutom :))

The feed to gopinath was not heard by us and so I cdnt comment on how much proved the wit of gopinath and how much was from the feed!

Jaya Tv's Kannadi hosted by Anu Hasan:

We were asked to be there at 9.30AM and we were asked to sit at the shooting hall around this time. Anu Hasan came in and the shoot began at 10.30AM. From the beginning Anu was discussing with both the debate team and the guests about what all points they have to discuss, avoided repetition and stopped if somebody was taking a longer time to make their point, took all suggestions from the participants and she was down to earth! I admired her I should say. The feed to Anu was all open and we all could hear what they were talking to each other :) Well here they gave us water (again opened bottle!) and offered us lunch at 2 when the shoot was over. 2 for lunch is ok compared to 6'o clock!

Now! coming to the topics. In neeya naana, the topic was old age moms vs new age moms. Our chennaimoms members were all prepared for sharing the burden of husband, educating and giving the child their best etc. But the topic of discussion was all how many knew to cook, how many serve food to their husband and kids (I was like... all these topics should have been covered during Bharathiyar's time itself.... why now?).

And in kannadi, the topic was problems faced by school going kids. Chennaimoms members were all prepared for tuitions, heavy school bags, internet safety etc and the discussion was is english medium necessary, why parents beat kids if they dont score marks, why are you going for private schools when you have government schools etc.

I don't watch TV. But is this how all TV shows are - that go off-topic and the items discussed are the age-old items that my parents discussed when I was a kid?
