Tags : venue for sports event
Yes, it's a sad blog...
You all know that many cmoms were trying very hard to find a venue (school ground) to conduct the mini-carnival cum sports event for chennaimoms members.
Many private schools were not interested. Then we got a suggestion to approach the missions and govt schools.
Finally we got some positive reply from ramakrishna mission and myself and jaisree(Sadana shankar) went in person to meet them.
First we went to the ramakrishna school near panagal park. They asked us to go to the ashram and get permission from guruji. We went there. They asked us to come at 12.30 where a volunteer would come who handles allocation of school grounds. But they didn't commit that this volunteer would come for sure! Anyways having come this long, we thought we'd wait. Meanwhile I had a small work in pondy bazaar and we completed it and while coming back, jaisree suggested we ask in sharada vidyalaya. So we stopped in this school where the secretary said a plain 'no'! Then we came back to the ashram. Fortunately that volunteer was there and he asked us to go and check if the school ground is free on the week we need. We went to the school at burkhit road. But it was a girl's school (and the volunteer clearly said it's a boys school!). Didn't want to leave this chance. We went and met the principal and she asked us to meet the secretary (the same lady we met in sharada vidyalaya!). On seeing the name, we know what wd be the outcome, so we asked for the route to the boy's school and went to the boy's school. Finally we got some positive response that they are ok to give the ground, but per day charge would be Rs.10000. If it's for charity, we can negotiate the price with the ashram! But... again a but! They have left their ground for saravana's parking! So the ground is not free atleast for the next 2 months.
ok... then jaisree asked abt the ramakrishna matriculation school near t-nagar shah's. The principal asked us to check out there. We went there and waited for the secretary for 1 hr. Then finally we met him to know that for the whole yr they've given the ground for the cricket practice. If we want we can ask those Kedar cricket academy ppl to let it out for 1 day! But how will we get any discounts (if at all we get) for our event? It's a long shot though......
I checked with some indoor stadiums, but they all charge per person basis. For eg, if 100 moms wd come for the mini carnival, we've to pay Rs.300 per person, so it comes to Rs.30,000!
So back to square one - need a venue for the sports event :(
I'm not sure you would have thought about this option - YMCA Nandanam. Just crossed my mind when I thought about grounds. I've seen companies conducting sports events in this ground. But absolutely no idea as to how much it would cost.
Hi bhavani,
I have suggestion... can we try out the atriums in big malls.. i have seen isphahani centre giving out atriums during christmas time... just a suggestion... not sure abt the cost... u can try in citicentre , EA... etc..
rads, i guess u mentioned venkatasuba rao right? i went to the school today, but the correspondent was not there. They've asked me to come on monday. Lets see.
ymca, rajaratnam wd be all very costly. Moreover we may not need that much space!
lavysiva, the main purpose is for moms to participate in the games that they played when they were in school/college like volleyball etc. So we need a coat! Also we do not need audience :) so that the moms don't have to think about running around and being clumsy !
