Hello anu,

I was busy with varalakshmi pooja and independance day activities here ....

I sent a mail to penetia abt this...for which I rcd a reply only y'day. She will be back only tomorrow and so the details I will discuss tomorrow.

Can you plz explain what do you expect me to do...Me and her would select 5 moms everymonth and would ask their consent by the end of every month and let them reply before 5th and we shall post the details on 5th of every month.

There should be some crieteria for the selection which would help quality produces to be harvested!....

1. Let us not mix languages.....if its tamil let it be only in tamil...(hope u understand)

2. One apt quote which would fit the subject

3. Good usage of idioms and phrases

4. The length restriction to (......words) abt which you decide

5. Posting of the links of participants in the bom blog post and if you can edit the content after 25th of everymonth and place (consolidate)all links in the blog post would be appreciated which would help judges to find a nice and quality blog.

These are the points which come to my mind about blogs in competition point of view. I personally don't feel good to read meaningless cluster contents....The blogs should stimulate moms to improve their language knowledge what ever be the language.

Plz put your suggestions. Its not just about selecting judges is my thought. The winner of everymonth would qualify for being one of the judges the following month will also make sense according to me.

Best is to have the rules for competition blogs be posted and known to all moms....if you still insist let us start this month with whatever be the kind of content...!!!!

Coming to the point, i am already placing the links to the blogs posted, in the announcement blog. Reg the criteria for selection, my opinions above are just my personal opinions, and pls feel free to judge as you find fit. I will post the selection criteria, names of the judges, and any other info, along the topic for the blog. And then the ball rolls to your court..!!

The reason why many good writers who bud here don't bloom is for the quality of the contents is my strong opinion. We still are not school/college students.  For those who are not conversant in english , no worries........tamil is there!  Occasional usage is fine..but most of the contents are thanglish!...let it be in all the other blogs but not in the contest blog!...Anu my internet might anytime become slow or I may go out of net for any number of days...Incase you do not get any reply from me in future plz contact penetia.

Opinions will vary...No five fingers are the same. Nothing wrong in going along with the crowd...Remember lot of good writers whom I have observed went out of sight for such reasons...

hi anu and poornima,i was out of chennai for a week and i was not able to login.

i too go with poornima in the language matter.using one language in the blog will be good enough for this is a contest.as mothers we shud be an example for our kids ,so we hv to maintain a standard which in turn will help in improving our language and writing too.

second thing i insist on the dates.(opening the contest, closing and announcement of results).this can be maintained on particular dates every month.'

then how about selecting 5 moms?on what basis shud we hv to select...and we hv to see that no mom is repeated ..how that detail to be maintained?

other things ,i go with both of u.all the contest blog entries can be put under the blog contest post itself..

rest in the hands of the judges.let each judge tell her point on why did she select that particular blog as the best.

Asking the winner to be a judge following month is a good idea!

Lets not have any restriction/judging criteria for the Blog of the month... Cmoms can write anything of any length. This is to make everyone write their own blogs instead of copy-paste of other/forward blogs. Putting more restriction will only drive away the participants.

Poornima, the blogs are nominated through the URLs in this blog. Only those blogs are going to be considered for the contest. Why to waste Anu's time is collecting all the links around the end of the month? The judges has to just search (browser search) for "http" and read only those blogs to judge!

Anu, if you are going to close the contest by any date say 25th, please give the end date while you announce the topic itself. Otherwise it's end of the month by default !

The entries close on 31st Aug. Penitia is the only judge for this month. Since there are only 4 entries this time, judging should not be an issue.

I think there is not much participation for the blogs when a topic is announced, or maybe ppl dont find the topics interesting enough. Even last month, we had less than 10 entries. So i feel it wud be better if we cud just let the blogs flow and select one from the pile every month. (that wud be tough job !), and so, my role ends here.!
