Sweet Nothings - My Beloved SweetHeart

Ours is an arranged marriage too. At first our photos were exchanged together with our horoscopes. Got Green signal from both the sides. Engagement date was fixed  even without the traditional "Ponnu paarkum vaibhavam". I was little bit worrying inside my heart, did he really like me? or simply accepting for his parents desire. But did not express it out.

In the mean time some good soul got an idea to "Meet up" in a public place( both the family members including me and him). To my astonishment, they chose the place as our town exhibition(held in a big school campus during summer vacations). I really felt very shy to be dressed up in silk saree and jewels and attend the exhibition but curious to meet him in person. So from our side we were a group of 7 and were asked to come to the exhibition around 10 p.m. We reached there at 10.20 p.m. As soon as I entered the exhibition ground, I heard the song lyrics"Vachukkava unnai mattum nenjukulla? Sathiyama nenjukulla onnumillai" - It was an orchestra program that day. We neared the spot iside the exhibition, my MIL intimated earlier. There was my MIL together with her 2 sisters. When my relative questioned, "Mappillai Enge?", My MIL said "Avan  relativesoda ice cream(Tension/Treat?) sappida poirukkan, message anuppitten. Ippo vandhiduvaan". So i was looking at the side of ice-cream stalls thru my corner eyes. But to my surprise he came the other way around. The moment I saw his face, I knew he liked me. Yes the song I heard earlier was true and apt.

We were married on Sep 5,2005. Within 4 months he got an offer to visit Italy on-site. He was in a state of dilemma either to fly for the first time in his life or to part his wife for a months time? I consoled him and sent him off to Italy. He used to call me once in 3 days, e-mail me, but still I missed him very badly. Oneday  I was just searching in google by typing his name together with his office name and thru the related threads, I was lead somewhere and I typed "Barath, how can I contact u? I miss u so much - Veena". The next day he called me and asked "Hey, Yendi en manathai vangura? Nee anuppina message ennoda office forum moolama ellarukkum therinchi pochu. Ellorum enkitta wifea contact pannalaiyannu mail anuppuranga. Nee konjam summa iru. Naan seekirama unnai paarka vandhiduven.". Only then I realised it was known to all his colleagues.

Two years later, I had a surprise gift for him. I joined the "Tanishq Golden Harvest Scheme" thru the monthly savings I made. One fine day,I informed him we shall go to Tanishq, Besant nagar. He said,"U r 6 months pregnant now and as per Doctors advice u cannot travel in bike from velachery to Besant Nagar".I said "No,No, Now as I am pregnant u have to accept all my wishes. So let me go by bus and u follow me in Bike, so that we can use bike from Thiruvanmiyur bus depot to Tanishq, Besant nagar". He accepted half-heartedly. We reached Tanishq at 8.40 A.M itself, then the shop was closed. So we headed to the Kovai plamudhir Nilayam in the opposite, drank fruit-juices, bought some fruits & veggies. Back again to Tanishq, we bought a small chain(now our sweet daughter wears it) and when he was about to pay, I slowly pulled out the Tanishq card from my handbag. He was very much excited but didnot react too much as it was a shop. Then he said "Ippo Bikelaye poidalam, Naan slowa vandiya drive panren". I said ok.

On the way home, he suddenly left the bike into Thiagaraja theater, screening "Dhasavathaaram". Immediately, I pat him behind, "Enna seyreenga? Enga poreenga?". He replied "Ticket kidaikudhaanu paarpom, illatti veettukku poidalam". Even now I feel like laughing to imagine us to watch the movie with the gold chain and the veggies inside my handbag.

Appuram movie mudinju, veetukku slowa poi, freshup pannittu, Nalas Appa kadaila Lunch sappittathu oru thani kathai. Totally that day was memorable in my life. Very close to my heart.

Thank u anu & abi. Abi actually I completed the Tanishq Gold Harvest scheme only with the help of my neighbour. She is the person who collected the money from me and paid it in the Tanishq office without the knowledge of my husband. So thanx for her help too.
