even if v don't get a place to put on the sale...  can v do it online(its just my suggestion.... not sure how far it is feasible) ... v can hav a seperate blog or grp nd members can upload the photo of the thing they want 2 sell along with the price... interested ppl can buy it by depositing money in a common account...

But yes Ramya this is another great idea of having online shop of second hand things at chennaimoms itself. there can be a permanent link where moms can connect to buy and sell things.

Gud idea,but I thought we could link the child-mom competition with her help,make it in a grand way so we can make it two in one-advertise chennaimoms,show how we r a real community and help sumitrasree too. when the cause is highlighted that may bring in more help for her via donations ( I dont know if I'm right ) and also earn goodwill and publicity.

Many of us were ready to contribute,so the expenses can be shared by all those who wanted to contribute. We can even find sponsors by telling the actual reason behind the event.

both are a publicity for cmoms too. my concern is time. for arrange a big event and doinig it right way will take time! however we can have both and send the event contribution later.

Sudha, this is a nice idea indeed....but we have two issues..one time and the other logistics...

We have to quickly organise and collect things that we want to sell.

Get them all together.

Get a good audience for the sale.

We should first meet and discuss in person...!

we may not have time to meet! out target should be next weekend.

The only way is to just collect details on a blog and ensure there presence. and fix up timing.

Lets work on it fast if we have everyones approval and go ahead. whatever little we get or however big we make lets pass it all to sumithra anyway. it may be faliure but thats ok there is no risk to chennaimoms name, max is things wont be sold, then it will be taken back by mom. but with event if we mess up then we are at risk!

Sudha, good suggestion. We can start a group and upload the photos of items we want to sell. Then if somebody is interested, they can take a look at it personally and only if they like it they can buy it.

But I hope all this works. These are all good business models but will they generate the amount of money she needs.

Can we also go and meet her and talk to her, if possible.

hey all! This plan is for contribution apart from the individual donations we are sending. pls do not mix up both.

If it is a Garage Sale, then I may have clothes/sarees/books. Otherwise I may be able to make pastries/cakes/cookies/Soup etc.

it can be a garage cum food sale. but you will have to invest a lot on parstries and cakes!

and food... as much as any mom can bring... just have a food stall.. so that those who come and those who participate can have the food there itself too... 

As its summer... moms can chose curd rice, melons.. etc too.  Also have a lemonade stall.  form small groups and take in charge of each stall.

Let me see how I can contribute to this sale either bu buying or sending some materials to the sale.  As Vai said, I too can contribute books and clothes.

why dont you yourself come down Nisha! you can stay with one of us and help us out too!!

 since its a garage sale ,how the prices are advised to be tagged on things? anyhow at present i  dont hv any idea of what things i can put for the sale!!!!

i am ready to do any help..when these things will be worked out? for we will go for our vacation from second week of april...

 I should be able to bring some food items for sale if it is garage sale. 

If it is online selling then maybe some kids clothes, baby cot, pram, etc

we will have it as garage sale for first two days then if things work out, we will make it online.

If the money is urgently required, maybe personal contributions to a common acc, either yours or admins' by a certain deadline would be faster...this could be done online.  what's the target amount to be collected? if u can let us know, ...that will give us an idea about how much to contribute....I havent been following the sumithashree's blog..so dont know the details..im sorry :)

Seems like it would not be possible to hold a garage sale.

Reason- Venue. We are not able to find one.

Our Friend Abhiramiv did offer her place for the sale this sunday but then she herself will not be there at the "Roots and wings" annanagar centre. Moreover her staff also has holiday on Sunday so we do not feel apt to use the place in their absence.

She is ready for the following weekend but we have already fixed up the 3rd of april for the Mom and me at Dissney play school.  and 4th of April is a festive day!!!

What do we do now????

Its a nice idea.. If u want to go for online shopping, then i'll help u..  one of my friend is running a software company, where we can get help for shopping cart that is online shopping.

And moreover we can create a page for her mentioning Sumithra details so that many can help through online.

That software company already helped many charitable trust in free of cost. And i have asked them regarding this, and they promised to help us.

So give me the pictures with rates so that i can do the needful.
