Difference between CBSE and ICSE
CBSE – Central board secondary education
ICSE – Indian Certificate of secondary education
Compared to CBSE the ICSE syllabus is very heavy. CBSE syllabus stresses less on academic/theoretical stuff and more on Math and Science, The ICSE syllabus is heavy on languages.
ICSE has two papers in English, whereas CBSE has only one. ICSE has three papers in Science whereas CBSE has only one. ICSE has two papers in Social Studies whereas CBSE has only one. So kids who are studying in ICSE are stuck with the books as CBSE is realistic and gives enough time to the kids to relax.
Most of the competitive exams in
Environmental Education is compulsory at the ICSE & ISC examinations whereas this is not so at the CBSE examination.
Examination schedule in CBSE is more student friendly than that in ISCE. It is really tough and students are more pressurized in that.
"Front Line Curriculum” id the concept that has been put in place in CBSE that requires syllabi be done on an on-going basis. CISCE has no academically designed process or programme for syllabi revision/upgradation.
The CBSE system of teaching hones the children towards thinking/problem solving methodology but Syllabus may not be the best background for the Indian competitive/entrance exams.
The parents who recommend ICSE syllabus for few reasons like the children who study there will get excellent English knowledge and if the child may go abroad for under-grad education it will be easy for them.
