We must welcome all the sincere (hope so) efforts of Mr. Kapil Sibal in trying to bring in some reforms rather revolution in our present monotonous education system. Hearty thanks sir. BUT all the changes that we are talking about is for the children who are already in his/her middle or secondary classes OR atleast in a school. WHAT ABOUT THE ENTRY OF OUR TODDLERS AT THE PRIMARY LEVEL??? This should be given a serious thought. Hope all the moms who r trying very hard to get admission for their kids will definitely agree with me.
We all try to get admissions for our kids only in so called top branded schools, WHY?? Have we given a thought on this??. We definitely have to . How did these schools come to the top. First of all what is this TOP TEN SCHOOLS. On what basis are these schools being ranked?? based on that one child who is going to score or has scored 485 or 490 in that school. Then that’s wrong. We parents assume that on entry into such schools, we can just relax back in our chair at home and our child will automatically get 480 or what ever and will get into top institutes for their higher studies. I know one of the top schools in Chennai who would give admissions for class XI only if the child had scored 90% and above in his X exams. this is the same for their own X students. Even their own students who do not get 90% will not be allowed to continue in their school. Thanks to the ministry of education for taking measures to stop this. Better late than never.
What can be done to stop ranking schools? Why cannot all children get quality education? What can be done on this?
India is democratic country where free and fair elections takes place (is this happening ?? that should be a separate discussion). Similarly, why cant the govt provide, may be not free but quality education to all . Afterall Education is the strong basement for a strong India. Why aren’t there any common codes or rules and regulations (some standard educational qualification) for recruiting teachers in all CBSE schools. Why aren’t there common payscales for all teachers in all CBSE schools? There are too many streams of education ( State, CBSE, ICSE, MAtric, Anglo). Why are so many classifications done? Why cant there be a common stream all over India? Why are state board students considered one step below than CBSE? Why is that the state board student feel that IITs GMAT and other exams are only for the CBSE? Why cant the school give only that many forms as that of the seats available or may be a 10% extra?. The schools make good money by giving out as many forms as possible. There are so may whys like this? Isnt it?
Defintely the government must rework ON THE EVALUATION SYSTEM BUT EVEN BEFORE THAT, DO A REVAMPING ON THE TYPES OF SCHOOLS AND THEIR ADMISSION PROCEDURES. BY DOING THIS THERE WILL NO SCHOOL RANKED AS TOP, COS THEY R RANKED TOP NO SCHOOL WILL ASK FOR 1 LAKH CAPITATION FEE, NO PARENT WILL HAVE TO STAND IN LONG QUEUES FOR APPLICATION FORMS, NO PARENT HAS TO SHELL OUT A GOOD SUM FOR BUYING APPLICATIONS IN THE SO CALLED TOP SCHOOLS, NO PARENT HAS TO APPLY FOR LEAVE AT THEIR OFFICE, NO PARENT WILL BE REFUSED SEAT COS THEY DON’T HAVE MLA,S OR MP’S recommendation, no school will give LUCK as the reason for refusal of a seat, AND ALL CHILDREN WILL HAVE THE PREVILIGE OF GETTING THE SAME QUALITY EDUCATION WHEREEVER THEY GO WITHIN INDIA.
I am sure that this is not only my voice but of all the moms.
