Before I even start this blog…one big KUDOS to Sudha for having organized the day so well with all the games and gifts not to mention the way of conducting them…all within such a short span of time….and I’m sure that all those who were present will back me for this. She was the Woman on Wheels yesterday!!!!

 Great Job Sudha!!!

Now, coming to the day…..we started from our house at around 10:30 for the 11’o clock meetup. (When have I ever been punctual?) The first person I met there was Chitra…then there was Sudha….so I have come to the correct location only….I thought….

By the time I collected my things, my hubby, my kids, fixed the pram and turned to join the group….the group was gone….Nobody in sight. So what…let’s go and join…we reached the area named “Stone Park” where all the ladies, gentlemen and some kids were assembled and we were pushing the pram toward that area when I had a feeling that it was not Chennaimoms group…

“Dear hubby…do you think this is the Cmoms group??”
He stares at me and “Ennakku eppadi theriyum? Naana cmoms-la member?”
“Ok..Ok…no tension….I’ll call Bhavani….”

Bhavani’s cell rings….rings…rings….no answer….
Try someone else’s number……
Tried Sayee…she was not coming…..
Try another number…..Situation was getting worse…I don’t have anybody else’s number…..
Husband staring and I start sweating…..

I move away from the place in the pretext of weak signal and try Bhavani again….Luckily she gave me anu’s number. Anu to the rescue…. spoke to her and we moved to “Picnic Hut” from the “Stone Park”.

There Sudha was giving name tags to everyone with “Chennaimoms” printed on it. I thought it was a good idea since it helped me to identify the moms easily, rather than asking them for the names…forgetting them and muzhichifying for their names when the next time when I talk to them. (I’m very good in forgetting names)

Then she started the games….first for kids….each game was simple and sweet….it was a warm-up for my daughter to mix with the other kids.

Then the next game was for couples….The game was like this…A newspaper was given to each couple, which has to be folded into half and each couple had to stand on the paper…The couple who folds the newspaper to maximum was the winner and Mr & Mrs. Chitra were the winners. Under the circumstances, the gift should have been exclusively for Mr.Chitra, but since it was a game for couples…Mrs.Chitra also got the gift. This game was a warm-up for my husband to mix with other husbands…..

The games were selected in such a way that all those who were present were able to participate….No kid…be it little ones or elder ones, husbands, or the cmoms who had come only with their kids…were left out. There was a game for everyone who wished to participate.

Swathi (my 10 month kid) was comfortably sitting in her pram for the first one hour watching the events…but then I guess she realized that there would not be any game for her…that’s when she decided that I should also not participate in any other games and so started crying….Y should moms have all the fun?

So…I couldn’t participate in the paper dressing game where the parents have to dress their kid with newspapers and other stationery provided….When Swathi was happily sitting in my arms…Smruthi was pestering me to do the dressing for her also. I felt so sorry for her.

There was another game where one member of the family had to give a pose and one member had to sketch them. Since Im the only great artist in my family (ok….ok…since I’m the only one who can atleast draw something…ok??? happy??) , I decided to sketch and the model was “Swathi in the pram” and guess my points it was 4 out of 5…..OMG….when my hubby’s comment was “Nee varancha Swathi-a vida nee varancha pram dhan nalla irukku”

Then after some more games…we had lunch…. In the meanwhile, my elder kid was glued to Laksha (Ramya’s daughter). Since Ramya was busy helping Sudha and I was busy playing and taking care of Swathi….Smruthi was more than glad not to have me near her and was going akka…akka…akka….all the time…. She would have her lunch only if akka had her lunch with her. I was happy that she got such a nice company to be with. Thanks Laksha.

Food was good but the Ice-cream was bad. (Curd rice was yummy…). After the lunch, there was one more shopping game for the kids and Smruthi also wanted to shop. (My daughter u c) but she was below the age limit. So she was happy watching the beach with the other kids.

The next 2 games were for couples……Gents on one side and ladies on the other side please. Jaishree announced. Everyone (husbands and wives) was given a paper and pen and we had to write something in that paper without mentioning our names or pet names…like a letter or a confession….and our partners should be able to find out that its for them only. These papers were dropped into the confession box…and Sudha was reading out our confessions. The husbands and wives had to identify their partner’s letters. (Hope I have made the game clear. I tried my best. Sudha...help me out)

Now comes the problem: My hubby identified the letter which I wrote, but I couldn’t identify his letter….Though he didn’t say anything about it to me later …But since, I couldn’t stop being guilty…I shouted at him in the car for having written such a general letter…

“”Thank you for being such a wonderful wife”………..how am I supposed to know that it is for me only…as if the others who came are notorious wives”

“Well…you atleast had a clue….Sudha read my letter as the last but one right….u could have atleast guessed with that…and moreover Sudha didn’t read the second word which I wrote in the letter”
“She said no pet names right? But still…you could have been more specific”
“Its only u who writes blogs for everything.… not me…” and that shut me up.

There was one more game for the couples…asking same set of questions to husband and wife and checking their consistency in answering. This time I didn’t try also…I just scribbled something in the paper and gave it to Sudha since Swathi was screaming for food.

Then there was the prize distributions for each and every game conducted. When Sudha called Penitia and her husband for collecting the gift, she came and collected the gift from Sudha and then asked her what the gift was for.
Edhukku-nu theriyamaye gift vaangitaanga…She was like me in that instance. (he he he….naanum appadi than pannuven)

Then some dads spoke some nice words about their wives involvement in Chennaimoms, some vote of thanks and group photos…that’s how the events ended.

Then my daughter had some play time in the park and she strictly refused to come out of the park and Swathi strictly refused to stop crying. So I had to give the pram to my hubby and literally drag Smruthi out of the park. On the way to the car…she saw vidya buying chips for her kids…another problem for me….Already she was screaming for not letting her play in the park…so not to make her scream any further…I bought her one chips packet….but she wanted only THAT chips packet which they were holding. I was even considering of exchanging the chips packet with them….but thank god..beforre I could embarass myself, their car left…..God save me….That’s all…all my porumai erumai episodes were repeated in the car. Finally Smruthi slept…Swathi slept and me and hubby argued about the above said game….

Ippadiyaaga ennudaya cmoms outing inidhe mudindhadhu………………

Gayathri actualy....................

you should have won a prize for persistence. You tried your best to win all the games. the best part was when swathi was getting  cranky and you had to feed her you still managed to scribble something for the last game.

Next time girl I will take care of your little ones and you freely participate (thats my award to you). I am sure you will win then.

Sudha
