Hi Akila,

I hope if u could teach them the art of making greeting cards of their own, it will be useful for them.

They could get a white chart and some fabric painting with which they could easily make out good stuffs. You can very well teach them the vegetable priniting using lady's finger, onion, bitterguard etc...

It is not an idea but a suggestion ... :)

Ok here are a few suggestions

2-4 - concentration span less, loves colour, sand and water and everything in the house other than their toys

  • Vegetable art : Lady's finger, potato, carrot can be cut into any shape on the base and used as a stamp to create prints on paper or cloth

  • Sand Art: Draw a picture, apply glue on each part, put sand ( fine and coloured) and create lovely textured art

  • Pulses Art: Use all the commodities found in the kitchen( grains, dhal etc) and stick it on pre-drawn picture

  • Fossil Art: Painting on leaves and making a fossil imprint on paper

  • Mask making: cut our different faces(mickey mouse, cat, tigeretc) ask the kids to colour it as they wish and make masks

  • Sock Puppets: Stick nose eyes and tongue on socks and make snake, people

4-6 needs to make something that has a personal touch or a sense of belonging

  • Pet Plants/ pencil holders: Old Pet pottles can be cut on the top, filled with sand, plant  som shrub or creeper. Can paint the pet bottle and make it attractive. Thses can also be used to hold pens etc.

  • Picture frames: refer cherrysmile comment

  • Caps and badges: Get one paper cap with elastic. Cut a few other plain ones in the same shape and tie the elastic. Get the children to paint and write their names. And u have personalised caps. For badges use cardboard and cut in different shapes , stick sponge on it (hasina did a great job with our badges for Mamma Mia)

  • Pencil caps: Get old pen caps , stick sponge in shape of flower/car/butterfly, pint with glitter, now you can fix this on any pencil you want

  • Sword/Magic wand: Cut in cardboard and keep, the kids can colour and personalise it

6-8 : A bit complicated stuff can be given since these kids always want soemthing new and innovative ...some thing the other kid doesn't have

Actually there are loads of stuff available on the net if you take an hour or two to browse theru....the above mentioned are jus my suggestions....Have fun
