(Be prepared Priya... you are in the scapegoat list!!)... those who voted for ppl other than Bhavani, i replied asking if Bhavani was okay... some of them welcomed and some answers shocked me... Chennaimoms demographics consists of all educated and responsible moms. Chennaimoms is either their hobby or it's their "me" time! They don't waste their time online!! Morever it's the only site thats secure with mobile verification...



Chennaimoms is not just a fun site. You connect with others in this site for a purpose:

- to get information on something (school, household product etc)

- to get new friends in your area, who has similar interests as yours, who has kids of same age group etc

and so on...



Hope this will convince them... If it doesn't convince them now, they will come back later like my dear friend chitra2 who was the first few who signed up but became active only very recently :)

The growth is good with all 'ups' and no 'downs' :) Few differences as well as the growth of cmoms between the 2 yrs are:

- Lot of offline activities in the second year (mamma mia and pink of health are both in the second year)

- Lot of cmoms initiative and participation in the contests and activities in the second year

- Many people have atleast heard of 'chennaimoms' in this year compared to last year when I had to start the conversation as "I have launched a new site called...."





2.Have u made best friends here?? Or wud u call everybdy "jus friends"...

I really have made very dear friends whom I talk and hang out with apart from 'chennaimoms' factor! I have many chennaimoms friends who go out of the way to help not only for chennaimoms growth but also to answer the personal questions that I post on chennaimoms! I have made friends whom I can PM for help and they are there always for me even if I don't keep in touch with them through regular calls, PMs and chats!



I should say I am still making many such friends.

after marriage - just the same except that I've learned to cook as my husband also doesn't know to cook.

after kids - (read as my friends/relatives comments) Bhavani is always busy. She absolutely have no time to even sit or talk. Poor thing :(



Wat motivated u too create this website..and made us all unite..

It was not out of motivation that cmoms was born! It's the need for information on a good school, pediatrician and other things for my kids and family. I got used to reviews from restaurants to movies in US and when I came here there was not much online on even the basic necessities like a doctor, shop etc. That was when only the Q&A and Blogs sections were launched. All other features came after chennaimoms launch and most of the features were all suggested by chennaimoms members themselves!

I found - Hasina who lives in the next street to me and Radhika who lives in the parallel street of mine through chennaimoms! Even though this is achieved in the first few days of chennaimoms being launched... those still remain the biggest so far - for me! I wish all cmoms also find such close friends :)

2 reasons:

- it doesn't give my real name - the very purpose of the screen name is to maintain the anonymity to visitors and new users.

- it's combination of my first and last name 'BHavani RAMAN. It was my user id in a company I worked before, so used it.



Most interesting CMOMs u have met so far and reason y u admire her?

VinayAmma - Radika. Last sunday I had to go for chennaimoms meet at 11. The cook didnt come, so I woke up, cooked and got the kids ready at 9.50AM. I planned to leave at 10.15. Took bath and got ready at 10.10. Came down to see my dear kids were fighting and crying. I cleared their differences, they stopped crying, then I told my husband that I am leaving. He had a sudden office tension and wanted his cell phone... cdn't find it. Ran up and down, finally found his cell phone. Time is 10.20. He had conf call in the office room and both my kids would like to play in the office room only. When I dragged one outside, the other one ran inside the room... They should not shout and so I had to talk to them only in sign language... nothing worked. I had no power to pull both the kids outside. Finally pulled them both outside, made them wear their slippers. 10.35 is the time. Now where is the car key? My husband got the keys the day before from the person who came to repair the car! The duplicate key... ran to find that it's not there. Finally found the key and only to see that my kids have removed their slippers. Made them wear the slippers, got them to the car... now i called hasina asking if she is ready for the meet and she said she is not coming as she is unwell. Then I finally got into the car after the call at 10.55. Even though Radika didn't come with me for the meet up this time.. she has always been ready with the 2 kids (who are of same age group as my kids!) on time... infact she'd be ready even 5 min before the time I tell her for pickup. I'd be ready on time if only i've to get ready and go... if my kids accompany me, i am sure late. I really admire Radika's punctuality.



U have other sites like - blrmoms,punemoms etc..had u ever been to their gettogether...or do u have any plans as such?

Poganumnu aasai than! Ella oorukum flight ticket pottu kudunganu en hubby kitta keta, cmoms close pannida porarnu kekarathu illa :) Fun apart, I haven't been to any other get-together apart from chennaimoms get together. I wish to join atleast one of their get-togethers in future.. Lets see.

We have a small play area in our home with cement floor. My kids poured water and chalk together and painted the whole floor in white. Not just the floor, but themselves too...

ofcourse chennaimoms. few reasons:

- it was the first site to be launched among others,

- in the intial stages of chennaimoms, i knew about chennai and answered most of the questions posted. if i dont know the answer i call someone and get the answer! For other sites I don't have someone similar in those cities, so they are picking up slow.

If the day is good for our family, we'd have a peaceful dinner together and play games with kids atleast for 5 min after going to bed. I wish this happens every day in my home.

My biggest achievement is chennaimoms so far... Though it started as a small interest when I took a break from my IT career for the kids, it has turned out to be the most fulfilling thing I have done. As for the future, I would love to make this community successful and useful to moms all over India as it is in Chennai today.  I am working on a new UI, which will enhance the user experience and also give a better way to interact with moms all over India. I am hoping that this turns out successful :)

There are many things... to list a few,

- somehow make the new members/visitors understand about the site, what all it could offer them

- somehow make the moms just click once on FAQ instead of 2 clicks on my profile and then on send message/scrap book

- somehow make the existing and new moms check out the 'Tools' menu to know how much information and fun games are there!

- to find a perfect chat that is free, wdnt show any advertisements, easily integrated to ROR code base, that shows the



online members, use screen name from chennaimoms, allow private and public chat rooms, allows a pink based-ui, checks for



mobile and email verified or not etc

- to give a photo gallery to the range of picasaweb or flikr

- to implement private messages to the range of gmail

:) and the list is endless!

Masthideals.com was launched by my BIL, not me! It's a deal a week site. I thought it'd be helpful for chennaimoms members as



the discounts are really good from 40% to 80% on quality products! At the same time, if many chennaimoms members purchase, I



could negotiate with my BIL for a share that would cover chennaimoms expenses. Hence the current deals are all from SPAs,



birthday cakes, restaurants, movie tickets etc which is all related to our mom's needs.



The site is going great and most of the items are sold out even before the week ends! But chennaimoms members purchase is



considerably less compared to outside purchasers :(

I have been doing cmom work from home until recently... Now I spend time in the morning and evenings after I go back home.

After marriage a... happy moment is my first pregnancy/delivery. sad moment is when i had to manage both the kids after my second delivery for some time when my husband was abroad!



3. what is your favourite food?

Nothing in specific. I like all items that my mom cooks.



4.  what you like and dislike about your hubby?

He cares for everyone around him. This is his best nature!
