Simbu :
Looks clean and well dressed. His restricted facial expressions and dialogue delivery resembled Kamalahasan. Good dancing since he consciously restrained himself from having 'that' expression he usually has when he dances.
Trisha :
Pretty .The costumes were fresh...with a predominance of the starched, pinned cotton saree look...on a positive note...I have this strange feeling its going to get a good sum of gals to try their hand on tying the saree rather than the usual salwar kameez. Acting wise trisha is a natural and the role requires jus that.
Ganesh ( Simbu's Friend):
Neat performance. I loved him.Crisp,Calm and Witty.
A.R.Rahman:
I didn't have any prelude to the songs so it didn't create much of an impact in my mind. though the slow part in 'Hosanna' and 'Omana Penne' did want me to listen to the songs again. With A R Rehman the problem is that you tend to like his music only when u keep listening to them again and again....
Gautam :
Did I enjoy?
Yes I did. I enjoy every movie I choose to watch. I was telling my buddies that I would have loved the movie if I was 10 years younger ...the romantic scenes were shot beautifully...P( my school friend) was infact supporting the ending and I too agree that 90% of the gals would do just what Trisha did....
I enjoyed every bit of the popcorn, cola and puff ( Sponsored by my dear brother K who is an equal movie buff and knows the bond between food and movies)...and longed for something sweet....didn't express it for I know my fate...M would glare at me in disgust...so with supressed intentions in mind I gulped down the remaining Cola.
And So
PS. In Tota though M mentioned that I should not be giving weightage to the name Gautam when I choose a movie....I would still go for a movie he takes.... its different from the usual stuff....and btw am going for it again with my gal friends this time ..not that I want to watch the movie again...but with the company and treats am sure to enjoy :)
Its really a good movie to be watched.Gautamalways stands out of the bos in his ideas..
Simbu has really played a decent role(avan kai kala suruti vechirundale podum pa)Trisha woww, i just remembered my days where i used to wear saree and walk..though not looking like her but still had my own fans.....heheheh(Hey u know my collegues here usde to say my eyes look like trisha,,,hehehehhe)
The climax was amazing, didnt expect such a turn over..
Totally ENJOYED
good review buzzy :) enjoy it the second time too... try to get something sweet this time :)
Hi girls, enjoyed the movie with all of you....
For me, I liked the movie.
Simbu was very good with all emotions... love, anger, frustration, passion.... (still not got a crush on him but he can pass off as a decent guy-next-door).
Trisha, I thought looked very fresh in the second half and western outfits suited her so well
Little lack of expression I thought, (especially the scene when she's alone she could have shown more emotion).
The music had so much expression that it could convey the mood of the film.
Ore oru point I felt GM overlooked, when Trisha has already booked the train ticket, how will Simbu get a ticket just next to her in AC 2 tier. Is it possible anyday
(especially in Allepey-chennai train)....
The other thing was this movie in 2010 has this ending and a movie in the 1980s (alaigal oivathillai) which has a similar theme had shown the couple go all out for love. Why? Has everybody become more conservative....
Buzzy, i liked ur review. So u gals had gone together for a movie...really...
ARR's music always grows on you.. rarely has his music been an instant hit..
Btw, what do u think of his JaiHo music, that swept the awards, but didnt quite impress the audiences back home, as it did abroad...?
I felt that he had composed much better music in movies here, that in that SDM movie...
Buzzy dear....
Here my comments go.. I m planning to write a separate blog though ..

I liked the movie
- Of all the girls, y did I love Jessie?.
- You are 80 and am 79, you are 50 and am 49.
(what is wrong if a man lves a gal who is elder to him( in love where the age comes ... that too only one year differece?)
hey Sayee, i m surprised u liked 'poo' The girl's acting was superb, but how far can u stretch one-sided, unrequited love... I somehow couldnt relate to it...
Ada, jayashree kku puducha.. adhu kandippa NALLA padam thaan...
Theeerppa mathi ezhudhiyaachu...!
@ Anu - Itha Poo reviewa maatha vendom ..but the good thing on that one side love is - It is justifiable bcoz - it is her childhood love and she carries it forward with the hope that she will marry him - she also says no one can take care of him better than her ... given her educaiton background, obviousa she cant go and ask him - will u marry me ? she iwll try ..but didnt happen ..And .I think Acc to me the love is - U give up love when u know that the other person can live happily and better .. Athavathu namakku pidicha onnu unnoruthanga kitta safe a erukummna u be happy .. athuthan love - namakke vaichukannum nnu illa ..ayyo ..romba yosikaranoo ?
And Moreover , ,at the end - she will give up and say tat He wil lnot be happy if he knows tht she is not happy and she will burst out when she knows that his life is spoiled..thatz practial according to me - Given the background of her..
Theerpa ellam nee maatha mudiyathu ..
@Sayee, (of course I'm not arguing on why you didn't like the movie because that's your choice) But these are my counter arguments on why I like this movie.
First of all, I feel like watching this movie again which doesn't happen for most films.
Regarding love at first sight, it didn't happen to me. But maybe it happens to some people. So I can't use that as a basis for discarding the film.
"There is no love between the lead pair" - Common yaar, Simbu waited and was still pinning for her. That showed his love. Trisha, well as I had said earlier could have shown more emotion. According to me, deep love and all doesn't start in the initial stages. Initially, you just like being with the other person (with how many people do we feel that, why do we cmoms keep meeting again, its a feeling of togetherness)
"Simbu saying I want to hug, kiss" - Ok, the director has been absolutely frank, I would say. Its much much better this way than showing 'Deiveega kaadal" and all that rubbish.
Ada ada Shylu .. vaa ma va .. Let us argue .. only for the sake of argument ...
1) I dont question love at frst sight - That should have been shown with much substance is my point - Simbu waiting and pinning for her ?? hehehe ..good ..but as I said , he could only emote the feeling of physical touch than really wanting to know about her .. It was ok to show the deep love at the later stages - But u see Shylu dear - they meet in that Ganesh's house- and First question she asks - thappa ninaichupangala ? then he explains that the friend is more than happy to give Key .. Athukku apuram - did they ever talk of anything betttr ? immediately they go to balcony ,start hugging ..bla bla.. the feeling of being together and sharing the good moments never come - But if u see GM 's vaaranam aayiram , The episode between the lead pair in US was really nice - it was love at first sight and GM has shown the way in which their love grew .. here it is compltely missing ..
2) GM is frank - correct- I am not the one who expects "deiviga Kaathal " but i expect some sensible love - not a lust... I agree completely that physical attraction is also part of love and u do have these kind of feelings .but as i said ,that doesnt take the preference.. .. I dont want a love to be shown as " two pairs walking in 100 meter distance and talks of all good things
But show some logic in love man .. love is blind..athukkunnu ipadiya????
oru friendodu veetu chabi kadaicha talk pannuvangalam..... adukuthan ODE Cafe irrukey (somebody is going to report abuse!!!!)
anyway,,.as jaishree said ,the climax is real ...there r many JESSIE's who loves (hugs, kisses) one person and gets married to another person making both of them fool.this is what the director may want to convey from this movie...enna solreenga?
Shylu????!!!!!
Admin......... Yaro Shyluvoda ID hack pannittanga..!!!!!!! and posting comments in her ID...
Hey girls, idalaam yennaku "Life in a metro" movie (anda Shila Shetty padam) parthu than therinjudu.
Adi yae Shylu - indha poonaium paal kudikumannu irunthutu comment a paaru da .. Life in a metro paathuthan therinjutham ..hahaah ..
Gal - Life in a metro is fine - but this girl claims always that she is from a strict orthodox family - Movieae 4-5 than paathu erukkum .it is Sin! Appo mathathu ? heheehh
And about the climax - heheeh - Gals - indha kaalathu ponnunga ellam sema vivaram ..... Romba confuse aayee , appa kku payanthu - ithu ellam naanga Chimbu appa kaalathulla " Oru thalai Raagam " la paathutom illa..
Kaalathukku yaetha maathri pesunga pa.. if director wants to show 2010 love ,then two climaxes .
1) When her father says i will die if u marry him , then Trisha replies in a cool way " Appa , ,i will wait till u die "
alternatively ,
2) She tells Simbu - Kanna inga paaru - they saw a US alliance for me - un cinema oduma odatha apadingara tensionla erukaratha vida , I better marry someone who is settled in life - thanks for all the trial runs
which ll be very useful after marriage for me..
eppudiiiiiiiiiiiiiii ? Makkalae.. Adikka varatheenga..heeheh ..Shylu vae pesumbothu naan erangi kuthalanna epadi ?????

Hi thoroughly enjoyed every bit of the movie .. am greaty fan of Gautham ,, and as u said i wud ve enjoyed much more if i were in college days ...
simbu was chanceless and trisha i felt she looked old .. n she has reduced so much .. dint lik her..
n simbu's friend was also gud ( i think he was th person who was driver for Jo in patchai killi muthu charam)..
Lust .. is a part of luv .. and i don wanna elaborate on th topic .. coz everybody wud ve felt these vibes .. luv at first sight is def possible .. (may be lookin at a person u may lik him . but only at times it may end in luv .. acc to movie she is th house owner .. so chances were high for luv )

Well, actually I was very sad about the ending...
but hubby is convincing me that maybe it was not true love from Jessy's side.
Intha kaalathlayum, I know one girl who finally decided to marry according to parents choice (even though she liked a guy)

Anu, VTV happy ending vennumna watch it in telugu.."yemayo chesava"..nee paathi telugu thaanae, u will enjoy then...
IPpodhan ulle vandhal ivalo comments.....am listening to the songs of VTV when i am typing this
@lekha : Exactly
@Trisha err Twins: seri seri
@happymom: thx di...Yup happy...had a yummy choco brownie...didn't share AT ALL
@Sshanthi: u can do anything when u love a person ...so simbu bribed the TT for THAT seat.
..and THAT did the trick .hey that happened in varanam ayiram as well!!!!!..there are some who do anything for love and others like trisha who jus like life hassel free as in 2010
@ANU4: Thx ponne...yeah ur rite...I think thats cause they heard something different for the first time ....jai ho isn't as awesome as some of our local ARR hits...
@ssb:love IS about hugging and kissing.
..sometimes ur love is so physical and sometimes ur love isn't...and some boys are made that way....Simbu in this role is direct and fast...diiferent from the normal slow and 'sensible'(in ur version) guys.
( u shud know better girlie
)..and I love to beleive that love can jus happen the first time u see a person
Trisha loved him because gals love ppl who praise them ( who doesn't
)... ok u feel their love is shallow....yup it is otherwise it would have won....i guess gautum wanted to depict that physical longing is jus not enuf ....mental strength is what it takes to take ur love thru
...VTV is one story while poo is another....avalodhan
@Vani: yenna oru explanation![]()
@sadhana:yeah di i loved the background score too...and yes...age has nothing to do with love happening....i think the repeat dialouge was intentional...punch lines i guess
@ssb: ponne poo is justified as a story...but loves sucess or failure depends on how strong u are as a person....poo gal was scared to approach her childhood love because she was scared of rejection..again I repeat ( sorry sadana repeat dialouge
)...90% of ppl lack the mental strength and confidence to go with their heart..atleast in India...its family and society that rule hte mind which in turn rules the heart
...sadly
I was thinking of putting a blog separately..now that , I have written everything in detail here, so no blogs.. .
Buzzy dear.. I am not questioning Trisha's character - But I dont understand a reason y this should be taken as a movie. If u say , GM is trying to convey a message saying that love requires mental strength ,,sorry gal .. audience are old enough .. they dont need to know ABC of love.. We expect much more from Gautam Menon ... Not this message...
Gal - dont tell me love is all physical - I know it better ..
U want to hug or kiss a man / woman in love- 200% true - but u dont do that full time de.. there r many other things that take the priority.. Love panni kalyanam panninavanga sollunga pa.. Dont think Boys go beyond only THAT ! If u really love a GUY , I dont see that as a primary need... ! I strongly object !! And practically speaking , ,physical touch plays a major role - thatz the harmone problem , not the soul problem ..
Apuram enna , Gals love people who praise them ?? appo nee azhagu nnu sollaravana ellam nee love pannuviya de???? appo Aishwarya Rai evaloooooooo pera love panni erukannuM?
Well, my view is : -
GM had the guts to make YET another love story and the talent to make it a hit.
GM had the guts to not show a full fledged villian. Here the villian's role is changing, sometimes we feel the parents are villian, sometimes we feel Jessy herself is not strong enough (people are questioning her character), because in a movie we are used to seeing a full fledged villian not people with shades of gray. So if the girl's father had made the guy get beaten up in the police station, we would have said 'oh, the father is the bad guy'. But he didn't do that. Even the family allowed Jessy to go down and talk to the guy. Also, the guy has some shades of gray, not the understanding and very good decent fellow that we'll like to see.
I think this movie is good because its worth discussing about. There are movies you wouldn't even care to talk.
The characters in a movie/book may not be like what you want them to be. That's where the mind starts thinking, why did she do that etc. If she had done the usual thing, there wouldn't be any challenge......
Adi paavi Shylu -
indha Mokkai movie pathi ivalo discussion ..
naan en Karutha sonnen..aalaukku aal came and started discussing as if u r representing GM . I really wonder y there is no one to support me ??
oru doubt - People do talk a lot about Nityanandha as well and his MOVIE too .. Appo , do u think all discussions are worth taking it ? heheheh
we enjoy discussing so doin it .. Namma than endha mokkai topic a erunthallum discuss pannuvomae.. so ponnae... conclusion - Talk of the town doesnt mean it is worth discussing - We have time and we also love to debate ... athuthan matter..
ayyo ayyo - Nisha .. Neeyavathu support kku vaa deeeeeeeeeeee
aanalum Shylu - thsi is a great achivement for me ! ! I made you talk !! and that too in such a strong way.. Wow . .Sayee Kalakaara.... romba self dabba illa ?
adangikaren
Sayee di, Nithyananda matter is self explanatory but oru film dismiss panna yevlavu neram aagum? So many movies first day flop showa marirku.... so you can't compare the two......
and welcome dear Sayee, next yenna vishayam eduthakalam. Unnodu, adutha blog podu ;)
n sayeee.. out of all th movies of gautham i dint lik varanam aiyaram .. n surya n sameera part was very cinematic .. guy wid guitar.. goes to america and even in tht movie .. it was sex before marriage (death)
@ Shylu - I told u the next topic already - y dont u initiate it ?
@ Sangita - Everything is cinematic - Nothing is real in GM's movie ,for that matter many movies - Vaaranam aayiram was good becuase the love was a fantasy and it was shown nicely .. The love develops gradually and you could feel the love in their acting .. But here , ,I found that missing - Trisha can't emote - She has a standard EXPRESSION in her face ! seeing her , u dont feel like loving , as Simbu said " Kiss only " . All I am saying is Either u show real love else u show cinematic love .. this was neither this nor that ...
Hey .in Vaaranam Aayiram , she didnt know she will die gal - Sex before marriage - Acceptable as far as he / she think it is right ... now a days, we hear many cases where they have sex before marriage and marry someone else.. so .. ellamae avanga avanga paakara parvaila than erukku ..
Ada, indha discussion innum continue aagudhaa.?
Penitia, thnx
Naan 'ye maaya chesaave' paakaporen... aahaa... enna arumaiyana title..."Enna maayam seidhaayadi..?" Idhey star cast thana...?
@Anu, the telugu version has Nagarjuna's son Nagchaitanya (buzzy, great GK, di) and Samantha.
@Nisha, yes I was also going to upload the link. Saw it just today morning.
I watched this movie in prarthana as we went suddenly unplanned for a late night show ..... and to my amusement there was a group sitting next to us and comparing the movie hilariously with aliagal oyivadhillai..... actuallu initially i was upset that that they were making fun of a GM movie...but then after a few takes even i was looking forward to their comparison and thot there is love and all that in the movie...its slow paced and more like a tv serial put together as a whole with only two people to enact everything.,....i know there will be lot of opposition to this critical opinion ...but then opinions do differ and I am just speaking my mind.
have u gals watched the movie "Tamizh padam".. first half entertaining and hilarious... second half konjam boring....
VTV - read all ur comments.... climax is good.. other than that its a average movie according to my taste....
POO - i liked the movie very much, i don't kn ow the name of the heroine but the director had done a good job by bringing the expressions in her face.... climax is also good....
@Srividya - Dont worry - Opinions always differ and we enjoy the debates - nothing serious ..all fun...so , u can write whaatever u want..
At last .. I have got some company ...
Danx - AbiArunn and Srividya..
HEY...!! Adhu nijamaave KB yoda paaraattu.. thaanaa...!
Unbelievable...!
If it is, then this movie indeed is a must-watch...
Where did ya get this ...?
NO COMMENTS ON KB ! Respect for his age and i dont want to start one more round...
Nethu naan oru paadam paathen - Vanishree ,Shivaji - what a love?????????

.
...never compare movies...its like comparing husbands...u try hard to find the goodness in the other and the badness in the target
...and finally gain nothing in the whole process
Buzzyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
What a GREAT COMMENT ?? Comparing husbands and MOVIES ???????????????? ayyaeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.
Movies - u see both the movies , u feel both the stories and u analyze as a viewer from ur experience !
how can you compare two husbands ( Unless and otherwise both are UR HUSBANDS
!!) ... ?? Comparing husbands is based on hearsay!!!
Comparing movies is the way for a healthy argument - DOnt u compare Chicken Briyani u get in Thalappakatti and Paramount ? Dont u compare Kurthis u get in Fab india and Pondibazzar ?? it is like that gal !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

...i jus wanted to relate to movies and husbands in a comic way...to conclude that analysing both are a waste of time...adhuku ibhutu kovamaaaaa
athadhi.....
Movie good or bad..no matter what but it made an impression on everyones mind. That itself speaks the success of the movie. Not many movies can do that.
One thing for sure i regretted for never falling in love or being in love after watching the movie.
appapa enna periya blog.................
it took quite some time to read it...............
