My son turned 2 a month back and people say I need to give him some health drink as he looks very thin (I think he eats enough, but he doesn't look very healthy though). I have got suggestions like pediasure (is it very heavy as people say?) and junior horlicks. Any of you out there suggest me any other supplement?
Give him protein rich food. Also give him badam, walnuts crushed as evenin snacks. Give him 2 glasses of milk everyday. 1 in the morning and 1 at bedtime. Some kids are grown up lean. Later in their teens they will become strong. Also you must put him on to a physical routine like walking / running in the park for 10-15 mins a day. Try this. Goodluck

I feel , we should not go to an artificial drinks like PediaSure, Junior horlicks, bournvita,... all these powders are not made by us. We do not know exactly what chemicals are added.
They may boost up or what ever you say but they act on hormones which is not correct. Why should we allow others to play with our kids on their hormones?
We Indians have lot of things at our home as a healthy foods.
Give them adequate amount of dry fruits, milk, daily eggs, dates, sugar candy, ragi...
This is what I feel about food regarding to kids after looking into so many articles.
To be very frank, you are the best judge of your kids health. Just take care that his diet has enough proteins (such as milk, curd, paneer, tofu if non vegetarian egg, chicken or fish) eat enough fruits and if you think its very necessary substitute one part of the milk with the pediasure. I would surely say dont take what others say seriously coz they dont know how u are upbringing the child.
Yes. I read in a magazine which states that all these health drinks tend to boost the hormone levels of the children and make them grow much bigger in height and weight as a result they tend to be obese. Milk is the best food and it is a balanced food. We can try and give our children intersting receipes by mixing dryfruits with milk, a little bit of honey instead of sugar when we give them juice, by giving them more of fruits instead of going on for junk food.
if your kid is active you need not to worry about any thing. some kids lean by birth. even my kid is also lean. but its not effect in his healthy life. you just concentrate of giving protine foods or not. includes egg, banana, dal, 2 cups of milk, apple like fruits, you can also give him like milk bikies in his play time. my sister is a doctor. she suggest that below 2 yrs of age junior horlicks is best than otehrs to give. my kid is also the age of 1.6 . you can also feed him like caju milkshake, badam milk shake .
