Our opposite house has a good curry leaves plant. We tried to plan the same leaves in our garden. Inspite of watering the plant and maintaining it, it's doesn't grow well in our house. Your suggestions are welcome.
hi, i think u are talking about the karuvepilai chedi rite. In my house they grow almost everywhere in the garden. It sprouts out suddenly. But stay if form for only about 2 to three months. My grandmom used to put used coffee powder trash on to it. I have also seen they used to put broken egg (chicken) shells on it. Apart from that I have never seen anybody trying to nurture it. Even Kotha malli used to be grown near the plant. The reason being they pour the left over rasam in an area, and the thaniya seeds sprout out to form the kothamalli.
Hey Bhavani...
I do not know much about gardening though.... But as my M-I-L has a curry leaves plant planted at home... I've seen her nourishing it with a cupful of buttermilk or sour curds.... Probably it might just do the trick.... ![]()
first put the stick in a small pot, once the leaves catch life,u can put them on ground.else they will not grow.
Hi,
I have that curry plant in my house also. Check whether the leaves are in good shapes first of all when it comes out. If the leaves are not in good shape then you use some pesticides. Since its winter time there will be a lot of insects that might eat the leaf we don’t notice and think that the leaf didn’t come out.
Also did you put fertilizer like the burnt coal ashes or dry cow dung or get fertilizer that is used before planting the seed from the nursery that plants and don’t put coffee powder trash or broken egg (chicken) shells (Because the plants root will be very young and it will get damaged easily) in the mud before planting the stick. Because it needs some fertilizer to catch root in the mud. Also make sure that the stick that you are using is from the bottom of the plant which is old enough to withstand on its own.
If you using the stick didn’t work out get some samplings from your friend or nursery that would sell that. Also make sure that you water the plant when the mud in that is dry. Since its winter time the pot won’t take much water from the sand and the root of the plant might decay use of water getting stagnant in it.
Try and let me know whether it works…,
less water and more sunshine and good drainage
water should not stagnate at the roots of the plant
