Hi, I want to buy a good TV. I hv 2 options, one is LG and the other Sony. Can anyone suggest which one is good? Also, if it is Sony, shud we buy at Sony outlets or is it ok to buy from the other dealers also?
hi gayathri, one must not compare Sony with Philips, Videocon, Samsung and LG because Sony has always proven to be clear picture and clarity of sound. But Sony, mindyou is expensive. They have 21inches, and 29inches regular tvs. Now they are promoting more of the LCD version which give the consumer Theatre Effects. Not only about sound, I mean the video you watch in a Theatre equals that stuff on the LCD. 21 inches please dont buy. My cousin is an electronics freak. He tells me that 21 inches will phased out soon from the market. But 29 inches gives a good image and will be down cost options compared to the Flatbed LCD. You can visit any SONY company authorised showrooms. Buying from these showrooms is better becos they authenticate the purchase and service and warranty angles are better. On the other hand, dealer may give you one year of extended warranty, which is practically a marketing gimmick. I have known SONY Tvs since i was born. In my dad's house there still is a SONY TV that works fine. I think Trinitron model. You can trust and buy a SONY at the company authorised showrooms. Wait for the ads to be released for Diwali or New Years so that they cud give you some discounts and or value added gifts when you make the purchase. LG picture quality sucks. Samsung is good enough, but there is no comparison to SONY. If you can get TOSHIBA TV that will be good. It has the best picture quality but the sound part sucks. Philips wud be a low investment buy. Its good for the price you pay. Hope my answer helps you. Keep rockin'
Hi Gayathri, You haven't mentioned if you are looking for LCD/Plasma TV? But my friend gave me the following tips when I asked her for buying LCD TV. Hope it's useful for you too. There are quite a few things to consider while buying a LCD TV 1. Type of use Will u use it for regular TV (i mean Cable TV) or will u exclusively use it for watching movies in DVD.(i mean use that as a home theatre option). If you want to see regular TV , signal strength is something u must consider. I have a set top box (Hathway - Fully digital) but i still dindt like the clarity. I had to do lot of stuff , finally the signal strength had to be increased and now the quality (clarity is good). For watching movies with good print DVD , LCD TV is the best. 2. Hall viewing distance. for a 32" inch TV u must atleast have 10-12 feet viewing distance. Otherwise it doesnt look too good. 3. Wall mounting - Though i couldnt do a wall mounting , LCD TV is best when wall mounted. Check if u have a space (near cable TV point etc - so that it looks sleek and clean) 4. There are some concepts like HD ready and Full HD etc .. Check out the diffrences clearly and see what suits ur need. 5. The external Look - Sony V Series has good clarity , but i didnt like the external look at all. Pay attention to these also , in my opinion a LCD TV has to look good even when it is switched off :-) LG pearl black was good. 6. There is also a class called Plasma TV , though i dont know much , people say it is cool. But when i went and saw both Plasma and LCD tv side by side in showrooms , i liked LCD TV.
Buying from a sony show room is no different from buying any other reputed store like viveks etc. Where you get a better deal, you can go.
Hi Gayathri, Buy a sony 29inch, its really good. It can't be compared with any other brand. Its worth buying sony.
Sony has lots of facilities and functionalities compared to other products. But sony does not suits for people who need user friendly.
If the person can play with cellphone/player, will really likes that one.
You can choose according to your convenient.
