My kid is turning 10. I would like to have a different party compared to all his earlier ones ! Please suggest me some ideas
You can have Jungle Theme indoors or outdoors.
Costume
Ask the children to come dressed as any animal, bird or insect. They can also become trees, bushes or flowers.
Decoration
Keep a lot of plants in the room where you will be organising the party. You can also hire artificial waterfall. If you can collect some round stones, which are found near the riverbed, it would add to your décor. Otherwise some of the nature shops have a readymade rockery, which you can buy.
If you have an iron hook fixed in the ceiling of your room, then you can consider hanging a rope, which the children can use to swing like the monkeys do on the banyan tree.
Collect some animal pictures from old calendars or posters. Cut and stick them on cardboard. You can now place them behind the plants and bushes in the room.
Start with a jungle song as the background music and then gradually move on to the light numbers.
As return gifts you can give animal shape erasers, tiffin boxes, jungle book colouring books, animal masks, stuff toy animals, animal stickers and tattoos, pencil colours and crayons.
What does your kid like?...from ur profile u have a son right?.so he would possibly like some TV Show,Cars, bikes ..you know something on those lines...he is 10 so you can ask him ...I think he will have something in his mind...and then u can fix a theme.
Ancients If kings and queens of ancient civilisations, gods and goddesses of different cultures around the world got together for yr son's birhday! This theme can lead to the most fascinating party that you could think of for a brood of enthusiastic children. Ask the children to do some research on the "character" they want to come as - an Egyptian Pharaoh, Cleopatra, Arjuna, Draupadi or Hanuman, Hercules, Henry VIII or King Harishchandra... The interesting part will be to create fancy headgears and crowns out of cardboard to suit a particular attire. the children can try out some cosmetic jewellery as well. To start with, drape the room well with satin curtains. You can hire decorative chairs for thrones! A red durrie or carpet can be spread out. Traditional paintings can be hung on the walls. If you have articles made out of brass, then you can use them as props. Use steel cutlery and plates! Create an interesting musical contrast by playing traditional instrumental music in the beginning and switch over to Indipop or rock and roll and see the young queens and kings jive to today's tunes!!
My idea is Halloween party Halloween is one of the favourite days among children. It is preferable to arrange a Halloween party indoors. Ask the children to come dressed as anything they wish like any spooky character, Frankenstein, cowgirl, cowboy, F.B.I agent, butterfly, Jack-O-Lantern or Dracula.! Any room becomes a "Fright House" when the lights are dimmed. Simply use your dimmer switch or replace regular light bulbs with lower wattage bulbs. Set pictures at an angle as if "ghostly fingers" moved them. Put lots of fake cobwebs around. You can adorn the cobwebs with fake plastic spiders. This is the best and least expensive decorating idea. If you have some old furniture this is a good time to use it. Soft flickering lights and low wattage bulbs can be used. Regular bulbs can be replaced by blue and red bulbs. Black lights are available at many hardware stores, which you can use to give a really scary effect. Welcome the children with some Halloween music. There are cassettes available on Halloween songs in the music stores. As return gifts or souvenirs, you can give eye masks, plastic, lizards, bats etc., spooky key chains, weird shaped chocolates and cookies!!
Theme: Mela
why not create a mela ambience, provided u have acess to a reasonably wide open space?
Ask the children to come dressed in attire typical to diferent parts of rural India - different kinds of dhoti or
pajama kurtas for boys, and ghagra-choli, lehnga or salwar suits for girls.
For the party you can have various stalls selling bangles, toys, small boxes and gift items among others.
Food stalls will add to the ambience of a fair. Have a 'chaat papri' and 'golgappa' stall along with other
traditional Indian foods. You can serve kulfi instead of the regular ice cream.
A person can be called to put henna or 'mehndi'. There could be a 'gubbarewala' or a man selling balloons
and a bioscope. A puppet show or magic show are other options.
Think about the village ambience you want to provide. Maybe a cart in the corner, some matkas or earthen pots.
You could even arrange the manually operated wooden 'giant' wheel or merry go round. Or, make a swing out of a
rope by dangling it from a tree branch.
Have folk tunes playing in the background.
Underwater World Ask the children to come dressed as any of the sea creatures like fish, octopus, or whale. To give an underwater effect you can make grasses and seaweeds on white chart paper and colour them in green. These can either be pinned on a black backdrop or you could paste a stick behind the weeds and then fix it on a piece of plasticine. Keep them around the room. If you have an aquarium use that as a prop. You could also make tiny fish out of cardboard and hang them from the ceiling. Collect some pebbles and round stones and pile them up in a corner. Put some plants in between. You could also purchase plastic sea creatures and keep them around the room. Buy some red and blue cellophane paper and put it on the lights to give the blue effect.
