dear friends I 'm new to this website and this is my first question in this website. Somehow this website name impressed me a lot, thanks to a friend who refered this site in indiaparenting.com Friends, right now i'm abroad and planning to move to chennai within next academic year 2009. I have twin boys who are 3years now and i'm planning to join them in a good international std school. I prefer this type of school mainly becos of student teacher ratio which shd be 20 students to 1 teacher. I know those schools are very expensive, everything depends upon my hubby's job in chennai too. i 'm a home maker managing my kids at home, no plans to work till my kids grow and know to manage themselves. but i want research and get details about good school and apply and not lose admission in goos schools for my sons. the list i'm giving below is the schools i 've heard from friends and thro website..they are okay. Pl. freinds rate the schools and pl. tell me advantage and disadvantage in these schools so that i can filter and select a good school finally. My requirments are, a good student teacher ratio, nice and friendly coaching, from lkg-12th the school shd be nice and result oriented, cbse board in 10th and 12th std and icse in other classes( if possible), the school shd have lkg to 12th std or should increase each std yearly..anything is fine, tamil should be there as a language option for second language, good extra curricular activites in school itself like swimming, karate, music and if they have spanish teaching class that would be wonderful( if for any reason we may have to go back to usa spanish is a subject here). the schools are: 1. gateway-the complete education in shollinalur 2. veal billabong 3. velammal international 4. the schram academy 5. the lords international school. 6. amazing kids 7. lalaji international school. Pl. also tell me if u know other good schools than the above and also tell me the fees affordability if u know . If u can tell me when they start giving applications and start admission process that would be great. thanks thansk alot in advance. barmee

How about PSBB millenium? I answered to one of the post in this site for the same school. One of my friend's kid study here. The kid is in UKG. She said the term fees is around Rs.10000 and per year it comes to Rs.50000. The school is good in extra curriculars, academics etc. The classes, teachers, school facilities are all good. She was saying the school's is on higher end when it comes to fees. Though they don't have any books, home work for lkg and ukg, they teach most stuff using laptops. Using laptops for ukg kids - i am hearing it for the first time!
Hi Barmee, You have got a very good list of schools. Few schools you've listed follow CBSE and not ICSE. Check it out. I have heard good things about billabong , velammal and schram. One of my friends kids study in billabong. But all these schools are scattered all over chennai. I am not sure how much you know about chennai. But if your husband is in IT and would like to take up work on the companies on OMR, then billobong will be your right choice. Velammal is too far from any IT companies I know. But many schools finish admissions by December , January. And as far as I know none of schools have 20:1. But 30:1 - many schools follow.
Thanks Ms. Healer Can u ask your friend how is veal billabong in extra curricular activites...what are the activites they provide and do they have classes for the extra curricular in the school timings itself...dose the school fees cover for activities or we have to pay separately...I also want to know if there will be an interview for kids to lkg during admission, becos since my kids are in usa, they don't talk much...their talkings will be still babyish language only..but i'm training them to tell abcs and 123s, and what portions do they cover in lkg. most importantly do they have tamil as the second language option.What boards do they follow cbse or icse for 1st grade onwards. till what std they have in this school..what will be donation for this school and is there any deposit we have to pay for them. What will be the fees for 1 year. what's school timings. sorry healer, its alot of questions,,,if i'm in chennai i will go to school and get the informations, but since very faraway i don't know whom to ask these questions... if u can ask your friend to reply or u ask her and repy.i will be very thankful yaar... thanks in advance. barmee.
hi, Since your son is only 3 years old, he can only join Pre-KG. veal Billabong will ask for a deposit of Rs.50,000/-(one time, non refundable) and Fees of Rs.50,000/- per year. You can directly goto their office and get the application before end of march. They teach swiming from LKG and they take for field trips also. Their english is very good. Other extra curricular activites i am not sure of. I got all this information from the school when i went for my son's addmision. They have tamil as second language and No interview will be conducted. No donation. Hope this details will help you.

Vaels billabong i didn't heard good about the school. They have just the brand name and nothing else. Give last preference to this. The next one i know and near to my place is lords international. Its a growing school. Good teachers, good student teacher ratio.

If your son is otherwise fine, Urine surrounded by ants is no indication that someone is diabetic , this is quite a common feature, but because diabetes runs in families so whenever you visit your paediatrician next do discuss your family history with him so that he/she can keep a watch.

No 2 kids are same so u cannot compare him with your daughter, From what you have written, doesn’t looks like there is a problem, some kids start speaking late, so if his understanding of things and hearing is all right,don’t worry, just continue talking to him, reading to him and otherwise stimulating him and just relax and enjoy your babies!
