dear freinds there is a fear phobia with people that maggi noodles has msg(they call as msg in usa) i think, in india it is called aginomotto...which is harmful to health, they may cause cancer...i know msg is bad for health..but does maggi noodles or the masala pack of maggi has msg or aginomotto???is it true..here in usa i have seen indian people saying this reason and not eating it...i want to know the fact behind it...when i was in india also people use to tell me that eating maggi causes cancer, but i was small and din't care about it..alot, becos i din't maggi all the time..but not all the people do it...but some are against maggi for the above reason..i like eating maggi, but just afraid to give it to my kids...becos of this fear phobia..but in the maggi ingrediants nothing is mentioned about it, so friends..can u tell me if u some facts about it...so that i can try it to my kids... thanks barmee.
barmee, in a recent study with one of the leading english magazines i have read that maggi contains some plastic wax substance which could cause a liver and intestine damages, that too particularly for kids. so i was advised to cook maggi the following way. after you have taken the contents of the noodles. first wash them in a bowl of water. soak them for atleast 10 minutes. using ur hand wash away the coating of wax on it. it will be clear and the water you had used to wash in the bowl will turn into a straw yellow color. again put this maggi in another bowl and again wash it. then u can put it on the pan with water for it to boil. i will write the way i do maggi in a separate blog. my kids and even kids in my neighbourhood love this preparation. Aginomotto, i dont know whether the masala has that in it. but i have often been listening on radio that aginomotto is good for the body and can be used for a substitute of salt. Salt on the other hand has much harmful effects just like sugar.
Barmee, Im sure that the manufacturers of Maggi product would have got necessary food permits from the National Food Council before they bring in a product, that too with a banner for kids promos etc., I dont think there is any harm in consuming Maggi. Barmee is Maggi available in the USA also?? Maggi with a egg half boil, mixed in it would taste yumm! I like it. My daughter too loves it. But we make it only when there is a bandh happening etc., Kutty
Maggi is surely yummy. I and my son luv it but I have heard that it isn't too good to be consumed too often. I think it applies to almost all packaged food available. Anything in abundance is bad for health. Hey kutty I don't think the national food council is very stringent. Our consumer awareness is so poor that any defective product in the market jus gets dropped from the personal provision list. The news doesn't go beyond that. Who takes the effort to make a complaint and go behind the case? and thus the laws remain loose ... Nidhi ....you've got patience gal...I heard its the masala thats bad...but the wax news is new to me. Barmee I think its best to stay away from it...but then hey a Maggi once a month or so isn't gonna harm anybody ....afterall we've got a immunity system running right :)
i agree with the views of nidhi and buzzy. now am waiting for that rat chick (nidhi) to tell her how she makes Maggi. Do you really do it in 2 mins Nidhi?? Kutty
you can buy hakka noodles and add your cookery skills in replacement to instant noodles. MSG is not good for health.
My paed says there is no harm having maggi, as far as it is limited. She says it contains carbohydrates
MSG (Mono Sodium Glutamate) is bad for kids, no doubt about it. It is best for pregnant women and kids below 3 to avoid it. However, Maggi says it has no MSG in it, and I guess Nestle is a reliable company and we can trust that claim.
Otherwise, I dont think there is anything wrong with Maggi. Afterall, I have been eating it for 25 years :D My son love it too. I add as much veggies as possible to make it healthy
i agree with nidhi........but my cooking prcedure is a slight different one from what she said.....as we all know wax is melted by heating...so the coating over the noodles can be removed by soaking the raw noodles in boiling water for 5 min and then discard the water and then cook maggi noodles in fresh water....
If your son is otherwise fine, Urine surrounded by ants is no indication that someone is diabetic , this is quite a common feature, but because diabetes runs in families so whenever you visit your paediatrician next do discuss your family history with him so that he/she can keep a watch.
Hi Natalia,
No 2 kids are same so u cannot compare him with your daughter, From what you have written, doesn’t looks like there is a problem, some kids start speaking late, so if his understanding of things and hearing is all right, don’t worry, just continue talking to him, reading to him and otherwise stimulating him and just relax and enjoy your babies!
