Hi Moms,
I hope many schools have fancy dress competitions at school today. What did you dress up your child as?
My younger son has the fancy dress today. I had a pirate dress and a policeman dress that I got for my elder son before. Somehow I lost the dress of policeman but had the whistle, gun, belt and other accessories alone! It'd have fit my younger son perfectly as I got it for my elder son around the same age... I turned the house upside down yday evening, but no use :( I tried the pirate dress and it had many silver thread lining and the dress was polyester make. So my younger son wouldn't wear it :( But I promised the teacher that I'll dress him up for the fancy dress and my younger son was also very excited about this whole dressing up thing! Then I remembered the turben (what you call it? the north indian wear it during the wedding... it'll be all decorated with beeds, in silk and the grand one...) that I got for my younger son for his previous bday. It was loose for him then, so I thought it'll fit him now. He had this sword and the grand sherwani... so I thought i'll send him like a king or something. I was explaining all this to my younger son while searching for this turben. Found it only to see it is smaller for his head :( But my son liked the turben very much (he doesnt remember wearing it before!) that he wanted to go as a king only...........
So after all this hunting and re-thinking various roles, finally I got him dressed like a fisherman with a checked lungi (stitched for his size), a sleeveless t-shirt, a straw hat. I gave him a long flat-wooden stick to row a boat and a fish net (that we use to clean our small fish tank). I thought of sending a cardboard cut in boat shape along, but since I am not allowed to go, he already has his hand full with bag, lunch bag, the wooden stick and the fish net! I thought him 3 lines to talk - i am a fisherman, i catch fish, i row boat and sing the row row row a boat rhymes. He practiced it 10 times yday and he was all excited and dancing for the row a boat rhymes! Finally am happy that he liked his costume. Today I drew a mustache and he checked his outfit in the mirror and was admiring himself :)
Have to wait till he comes back from school to listen how his day went...
Nice to know..
This time my daughter had this fancy dress competition on last friday. My daughter is very stylish and very particular abt her dresses and how she looks. She is not ready to wear some male dress or to enact a male character. So I had to search a female character only. Last time she had put up a dress of "Kitturu Rani Chennamma" and she was so good in it. She had even won a prize for that. This time we really got confused and didnt have much time to decide on her dress too. So we just made her a vegetable vendor who goes out selling vegetables.
Believe me she has a very loud voice and it suited her so well. We taught her some dialogues with that raw village accent and she did so well on stage. I dressed her up in a old sari and a mismatched blouse with a bun on her head. She really performed well that day.
Still awaiting for the result. But results apart, she really enjoyed that day and all her classmates too did a good job. It was really sooooo nice to see those kids dressed as different people.
My son Adithya have fancy dress competition today . He dressed up like Lord Murugan. He said " I am Lord Murugan, Yamirukka bayamen? and ovvaiye.. chutta pazham venuma ? chudaatha pazham venuma? " Nice to see him in that dress. SEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE...... oonjal Murugan!!!
Thats really good maalu... Murugan is so cute!
Smitha, the vegetable vendor is a good idea... from the description you've given, I am sure she is going to win this time too!
My son did well at school yday. He came back and enacted it to my parents too... His excitement did not settle down till he went to bed :)
Last year my son was dressed up like a farmer and the theme was "People who help us". And he got first prize.
This Time he dressed up like a Fruit vendor(since his theme was "HELPERS"). This time it is not a competition, it was just a show.
aarthy, the vegetable vendor looks cute! farmer is a good idea.. i'll try farmer for my son next year :)
If your son is otherwise fine, Urine surrounded by ants is no indication that someone is diabetic , this is quite a common feature, but because diabetes runs in families so whenever you visit your paediatrician next do discuss your family history with him so that he/she can keep a watch.
Hi Natalia,
No 2 kids are same so u cannot compare him with your daughter, From what you have written, doesn’t looks like there is a problem, some kids start speaking late, so if his understanding of things and hearing is all right, don’t worry, just continue talking to him, reading to him and otherwise stimulating him and just relax and enjoy your babies!
