Tags : Teaching in Mrs. YGP school
Hi
My daughter has got admission for second standard in Mrs. YGP school. The fees seems to be very high and I dont know whether it is worth it. Can someone tell me about the teaching at that school and about the location of the new building? They are building a new school somewhere but I dont know where. If you have someone studying there kindly give me the phone number of that child's parent so that I can enquire. It is really very tough to get admission in any school for second standard. I ve tried every CBSE school in Adyar and they all say no vacancy. How do we get admission in Bala Vidya Mandir coz thats my first preference. I stay in kottur and BVM is quite close to my place. Please suggest.
Thanks, Asha
Mrs. Y.G.P School otherwise called calibre academy is at Mylapore. My son was under Montessori system during his Pre- KG and I was looking for a school which would give my kid special attention and a play way learning. I came across this School accidentally through Web. I visited the school and I liked it even though it is not too big. Now a days parents have a wrong notion that only the school which is big in area has more quality education. It is not true. In this school each children is known to all staffs and that was their main objective. And in big schools our kids may not get the oppurtunity to expose their budding talents and due to heavy competition in those schools kids have the tendency to lose their interest towards things. Here in this school their main attracting feature is their learning stations which is an attractive alternative for the boring , same old classrooms. The children will move to different classes for each subjects and their classes are completely interactive which help the children to learn more, to improve their communication skills. They are planning to move to their own building which would be big enough with all facilities like a good playground and library etc., And also the kids are performing well without any books. All their worksheets and syllabus are very informative and interesting. Their system of education is also transaprent and we can know from their website about the syllabus each month. They are also having Western music, Indian Music, Craft calsses, Dance, as a part of their syllabus. Its really a very gopod place for children who want to learn a lot in a playful manner and the teachers are very co operative and encouraging. Their fee structure may not be affordable for lower middle class but it is worth paying. Moreover its more like a family rather school as the kids are more friendly with the staffs.
Can you please tell me the fees structure. Is there any donation for pre-kg. and when is the admission
Thanks for the information devichandru. Very glad to see your reply. I am so happy that my kid has got admission in such a good school. I have no doubt that my kid will get a very good valuable education and as well as come up in extra curricular activities. In which class is your son studying now? Would like to talk more to you by phone. Can you give me your contact number if you dont mind. If you dont wish to give, we can at least communicate via this email. Thanks once again for the long and elaborative reply which answered all my queries.
Caliber Sucks... Pl do not get offended by this - but the fact is after about 6 months _ we are sick & tired of the way this school is being administered.
First off- this is not a real school - this is a hole in the wall- a old bunglow on Krishnamswamy lane converted with tin roofs & bright paint to play out as a school. The school has been talking about getting its own place since the time of inception - but for the money it would have collected so far (70kX 700 kids per year- do the math) the founders are well set to retire. The grandmother is the brand equity & our gracious public falls all over the place to find its child a spot here.
Each class is filled with over 40 kids the class is a small 10X10 dungeon.
Do not be amazed if the van drivers are the news bearers of the school - the school has completely outsourced its communications as well as transportation to a set of van operators.
If you are about to begin your first year in this school - it will be a couple of months before the mandatory van pick up is effective - how ever you will have to pay the fees for the service not received as they follow the government (where even without a pipe line/ sewer line, tax is collected by the Water supply & sewerage board)
The school expects you to be girdled with the school website at all times including mid night, 7 am in the morning to get to know the latest status that is if the PRO team ( van drivers) fail to intimate you.
Their code of approach - Trust us we will take care of the rest - difficult atleast for us to digest -given our exposure to the great indian "Trusts".
MIlk! Milk! Milk! the brand equity- that is all is the outlook- a few teachers from the PSBB school - now let me take that back - 1 teacher from PSBB & the rest are a bunch of raw rookies add the brand viola we have the commercial situation of the Karunanidhi family.
Mark our words - the school will succeed lots of good example from times of the yore -the Nehru family, Karuna's family, Devegowda's family, Patnaik's family etc, Saravana & Co, Vivek & Co so the YGP family too will suceed - but here are the core questions
1.What is their skin in the game - other than grandmom equity?
2.What are the key differentiators other than a loud foul mouthed PRO?
I second kramsam's opinions though my child is in a different school belonging to the same trust, the situation is still the same. There is no proper faculty. The principal changes every now and then. The students are not taught anything in class. The parents are burdened with projects and assignments.
Moreover the teachers do not have sufficient subject matter expertise. The trust is running all these schools only as business.
i too share the same thought as kramsam's, Well said and the opinion shared by kramsam is the truth about this school.
hi,

My kid just did 1 year in this school. I ve put her in a good school this year and I am very glad that I ve changed the school. I too heard about this CBSE affiliation issue. You also change the school of your ward as soon as possible.
