I believe in genuine ones and I guess there is no astrologer who is genuine now ! My father's horoscope exactly traces when he'll get his job, get married, how many kids, when he'll fall ill etc. It's actually a whole notebook - hand written. But the handwritting is so illegible to me and few words I don't even know it exists in tamil. When we show this to the astrologers now, they read and ask us "has these happened at this age, time etc" and so far it was all true. This astrologer is no more. So my father gave mine and my brother's horos to be written by this astrologer's son. But nothing was correct in it for both of us !

Yes I believe in astrology / horoscope and we have a family astrologer whose predictions always are mostly correct and ultimately we will be doing some parikaram to minimize the bad effects and that again we will be doing to the god. But again there should be 100% effort, dedication and hardwork from our side also just relying on the astrology without trying out anything will never work. This is my opinion.

I do beleive in Astrology and horoscope to an extent. Infact my mom sees horoscopes and most of what she has predicted/told have turned out correct and we also visit a regular astrologer who predictions for me have just been perfect. However, I dont really do parikarams. I used to wonder whether to beleive them or not only after it really started reflecting to what was happening. Again....it is no point taking it any extent that can ruin your life.

I think what you are referring to is Nadi Joshiyam which is written by sages some million years ago. I dont really beleive them.

actually i believe but nowadays little disturbance in my life. Astrologer says this is due to Sani Dasa which is disturbing me and made me to think to believe or not.

I personally do not believe too much in astrology but I will say that at time I become self contradictory and when some problem comes up in lie, start thinking about taking this route.

Anyways, I have a big family back in Delhi and since we go to Varanasi regularly and have connections with UP, family believes in all this a lot. So I know about "Sani Dasha" and what you should do in this case. Wahtever I am telling you is what was told to my brother to do because he was also predicted the same. Depends on you to follow or not. But may be you can do for sometime and seeif it helps you. Believe me for one thing, nothing will go wrong.

1st thing, take bath on Saturdays without putting anything in mouth, take mustard oil in a small cup (try to keep one seperate for this purpose), see your face for few seconds in this oil, out a one or two rupee coin in it, and cover it immediately. Make sure no one again looks into that. On same day before sunset, my brother was told to go and put the oil in "Shani Dev's temple". In Delhi all Shani Dev's temples have a vessel in which people pour the oil. You might have to find it here. Just look away when pouring the same, pray to God and wash the vessel and keep aside when you come back.

2nd, Do not buy anything black on Saturday. No black grains and no black Cloth.

3rd, Do not buy mustard oil on saturday

4th, Do not buy anything which has iron on saturday and also if you are a non vegetarian, do not eat it on saturday.

There were few other things to be done, if you want I can find out from my aunt who is into all this, in Delhi.

Again, your prerogative to follow all this or not. Just have faith in yourself. Things will go smooth.

Problem is me, my hubby and our daughter, all 3 r suffering from Sani Dasa. This is the main tragedy or comedy or what i dont know.  i m still not loosing my confidence, but sometimes i feel like this might be the reason which is disturbing our life, but personally everyone's behaviour is the main routecause for everything.

Smita will try to do ur suggestion as i have to ask my in laws for permission. And we r vegetarians.

I really don't know what "sani dasha" is?Can anyone explain this? what if this happens, does it affect everyone in the family as deepa says? Will this cause any harm or something like that.

Coz Iam not exposed to this, just wanted to know, in what way will this affect a person.

Was wondering why should something control our life, instead why don't we have faith in God and control our emotions.

I guess God can correct our paths and solve our problems, if we have immense faith in Him.

Let me share some words of wisdom that I have gained on this subject.
Whenever you go to an astrologer, he might ask about a few events that would have happened in your life in your past.
Now that doesn't qualify as a great prediction. Our horoscopes have a few attributes that show others about our lives - some fixed aspects
like the standard problems - quarrelsome parents, infidel husbands etc.they are all based on our planetary positions -
which in turn are due to our previous karma. So some of our strong karma translate themselves into some definite occurrence (good or bad) for us.
As far as future is concerned, no astrologer can predict our future 100%. This is again because of the karma we do on a daily basis.
A person may be due for an accident, but if the same person feeds a hungry dog on that particular day, the accident could be averted, or atleast, the accident may
happen, but with least damage to the person. The pariharams suggested by the astrologer aim at this kind of karma-killing.

Change your karma by doing good to others. Speak positively to people in distress. Help needy people, pray to God
to destroy your karma. And if you believe in God, pray to Hanuman especially on Saturdays.
This is more than enough to change our fate...and always remember and remind your husband - 'Vinaasa kaale vipareetha buddhi' meaning...when times are not good, our mind is supposed to act crooked....so be patient and forgive each other....and to my knowledge, planetary positions don't impact the children much...

The problem is not with me or my  hubby but my daughter was affected with an incident last month. This made me to think. I dont blame anyone for this incident as it was my carelessness which happened to my daughter.

As u said i dont go to one's issue. I am happy with what i have and i have everything but sometimes i feel i dont have anything. Generally in my life whenever negative things happened i know it before itself may be an hour or a day and my concentration will be there only. Dont say that i have seen these things in movie.

Everything i know what all is going to happen but i cannot do anything. This is the problem.

I help people which is in my control. I believe in God.

 Actually me and my hubby also have the Sani dasa now but we do not think of the things that go wrong. Touchwood both of us feel that we are atleast not suffering, so we don't really bother about the dasa. If u keep thinking about it, then you will feel whatever happens is bcos of that. Don't worry, these are just passing clouds. Everything will be fine soon.

Astrology basically is founded on assumptions, most of which are baseless. There are no scientific backings for any of these assumptions and in fact are against proven scientific truths.

With the advent of the science of Astronomy, false assumptions and wrong notions under the astronomical beliefs were proved baseless, just like alchemy was proved wrong with the development of chemistry. The attitude of  the astrology and occult practices, is not to deny the results of science, but rather to downplay and devalue their intellectual and philosophical significance in relation to  reality.

The Quran has decreed against man claiming knowledge of future or in unseen matters, which are akin to the practice of astrology.

Man is responsible for all his actions and cannot blame anybody else, including the sun , moon,and stars for the conquences of his actions.

In its march towards new discoveries, Astronomy has told us about the existence of URANUS, NEPTUNE AND PLUTO. But astrology does not take cognizance of these planets and still lives in the bygone age. Indian astrologers still talk of two imaginary planets(which really are non-existent), namely RAHU AND KETHU..

To astrologers, MARS AND SATURN were seen as generally evil, VENUS AND JUPITER as benign. As the like nature of celestial objects, the planets are well established as merely material. It is quite absurd to attach to them human qualities like goodness, badness, evilness, will, anger etc.

Perhaps astrology fulfills our intrinsic craving to know about the future. We have a strong desire to believe in something. Having a feeling of knowing something of the future mitigates our feeling of loneliness and helplessness.

I believe in all the positives they predict about us.. as that gives us motivation and hope... and when anything negative is said... I would say that i do not believe in astrology as so many things were proved wrong in my life.... I trust in the power above that... ALMIGHTY!

and I swear most positives HAVE HAPPENED in my life and all negatives were proved wrong...

Hey touchwood... we too are blessed with three sani at home now. one kantakassani, one ashtamasani, one sanidasa..!!!! and heard that they are all moving this September 26.. but I also tell you we have been hearing such dates so long since our childhood days...

something like the carrot hung in front of the horse in a cart??

Wud like to clarify some misconceptions u have on astrology. Astrology is not based on assumptions, as u think. It is all based on sceintifc calculations only and Rishis in the past have written their predictions based on mathematical calculations of the planets. They did not base their predictions on their assumtions ,as you think. In Hindu mythology everything is backed by sceitific reasons. So please correct your outlook of astrology. As others have pointed out, astrology has become a trade today. But traditional astrology is definitely based on mathematicla calculations only.

I belive in Astrology to an extent as my grandfather (who is no more) was a great astrologer. He predicted my date of marriage and the issues for me in marriage and the second delivery would be a C Section and even the time of bith etc. Even he had instructed through somebody to stop my marriage after my engagement was over and unfortunately that message reached us after my marriage, due to some family conflicts with my mother and her brother. But as per his predictions my life was ruined till 4 years of marriage. in the 4th year i had a tragedy and gave divorce notice to my husband. After that we rejoined lived seperately from my inlaws and now agin with living with them. These are all due to the status of the planets when we were born and these have real effect in each ones life.

I also have met that Sesashdri at alamelumangapuram. He is ust making maoney and wants to do pooja at his place only. And each is too costly and traveling from here is too far.

But i keep thinking why is astrology, numerology, handwriting tactics, etc  limited only to hIndus, why not muslims or christians and everyone abroad....

Don't they have problems at all? Don't they lead a normal and peaceful life?

Yes, the argument can go on and on. But sometimes not knowing about all this is better, then we can take our own steps to solve problems. Of course faith in GOD gives us the inner strength to cope with problems.

i do have pretty much  belief in astrology ..  even i was thinking the same way u are..  i was told by my mom tht western ppl too believe astrology!.. and many books on astrology were written by them. we had an astrologer at Salem..  my mom who visited his place told me tht he had lots of books in English and he did refer them often... his predictions were true in my life.. Unfortunately he is no more now.
