Hi can someone tell me about good schools in Chennai. I will be relocating from US next year and am looking for schools for my boys. They will be in 8th and in 4th next year. I am looking for quality hands on education (not mug up) and clean environment. Is there a school that offers good well roundedness?

Hai!

Which part of chennai are you going to settle. You have to go in with the area schools so that they will not waste time in travelling. There are many good schools all over chennai. You need to look in for CBSE schools for your criteria to be fulfilled.

Since your elder son will be in 8th, he'll have to take up a second language which he is familiar with. In CBSE (central board), some schools offer French as second language. Most schools have Tamil, Hindi or Sanskrit as second language.

And like Sumitrasree said, the area where you're planning to settle can narrow down your search for schools.

You can also start going through the 7th std and 3rd std. syllabus so that the transition will be smooth for your kids.

hi..We moved from the US too into Chennai...We were dissatissfied wd lots of things that schools had to offer..but tremendous research has led us to believe in ICSE schools..like Shishya,adyar or lots of montessori based ICSE schools in and around velachery,perungudi,thiruvanmayur... will definitely serve our purpose..You will be comfortable only when ur kids feel a smooth transition..If u could tell me what ares u plan to move into,i wud be able 2 suggest good schools...Please feel free to contact me..believe me,we ve seen them all..................and npw my son likes this school,Navadisha in velacheri........no uniforms....research and project oriented education...he loves it.....www.navadisha.org...please check it out...

We are r2iing in jun 2010 from US, my child going to 8th gr. She is taking French currently as a language here in US. Can you suggest on good schools please?
