Hi Moms,

Could you suggest me few easy dishes that I could pack for my kid to school?

I usually pack some mixed rice (carrot, daal, curd etc) with chips or something. I want to make my boy eat healthy as he eats very few vegies like carrot, raddish etc. He hates even the potato however tasty i cook :(

Thanks,

Giving rice as packed lunch to small children becomes messy. Try giving whole wheat bread with different stuffings.

Kaladi- a popular dish in Jammu region.

You will need green corriander chutni, sweet tamrind chutni, big chunk of paneer and grated carrots, finely chopped onions, tomatoes and corriander.

On a tava add a spoon of butter and toast the slice of paneer with a little salt. In the same tava, add a little more of butter and toast two slices of bread. Spread green chutni on one slice and tamrind on the other. Place the paneer on the slice with green chutni. Sprinkle a little chat masala and the vegetables. Cover this slice with the other slice with tamrind chutni on to the vegetables. Press this sandwich with a flat laddle.

This is a complete healthy meal for your child . Adults can also eat this minus the butter.

hi moms

I would suggest vegetable parathas, like allo paratha, ghobi,or mixed vegetable paratha where in you can grate the vegetables mix with atta  or u can stuff it .

you can even grind palak or tomatoes &mix with atta , the color also changes , the children also likes it because it is very attractive & somethig differnt than routine. It is very healthy also.

hope u all try this once.

Children are very particular in what they eat. So try to send the food what they like.

As he is in preschool send limited quantity. Try Buttercorn, sandwiches.  pack 1sweet like besan laddu. snacks like chakli, kodbale, nippatu. With breakfast so that it will be intresting.

If u pack the breakfast then make it attractive. If u are making dosa then make ten small dosas rather than putting one big one. First we have to make them understand the importance of breakfast.Day by day they will change. Morning atleast make a habit of eating little breakfast at home. Involve him in packing the lunch box.

Answers from Natural childbirth and lactation consultant,Pediatrician- Dr.Shacchee Khare Baweja

My son of age 5 's urine is always surrounded by ants. Is he diabetic? Bcoz my father and grandparents are diabetic. I'm not. Please help me.

If your son is otherwise fine, Urine surrounded by ants is no indication that someone is diabetic , this is quite a common feature, but because diabetes runs in families so whenever you visit your paediatrician next do discuss your family history with him so that he/she  can keep a watch.
