Tags : How do you make a baby sleep throughout the night?
Without having to feed at nights... Whats the normal age for the babies to sleep the whole night - atleast 6 hrs?!
Usually babies sleep for 5 hrs when it's 3-4 months old. Once you start the solids then the baby can eat it's tummy full and sleep for 6-8 hrs at nights.
If the baby is hungry, there is a high chance he/she will wake up inbetween their sleep.
If a baby is not hungry and still wake up at night, then check for any gas problem/upset stomach, check diaper.
Make sure to feed the baby stomach full, make him pee and then put him to sleep. He will sleep for long hours. If your baby is not taking enough of solids, give some milk after solids so that he is not hungry and then make him sleep.
Is he comfortable in his sleep? some babies wants the warmth of the mother or put him/her in a cloth-crib, put some pillows around to give a hugging feeling. Check if the baby feels cold bcoz of a/c or something. Dress him at nights appropriately. If the baby doesn't wake up bcoz of hunger or diaper change, then he is not feeling comfortable at sleep i guess.
my child used to wake up 2 times at night until 3 yrs of age ! It just became his habbit. Till 1 yr, he wd wake up to have milk and he will not eat properly at night or drink milk. At 1.5 yrs i started with milk supplement - pediasure and made sure to feed him 1 cup of milk mixed with pediasure at night just before he sleeps. He would still wake up at night and drink some water and sleep off. around 2.5 yrs, he will wake up, then i'll just pat him and he wd sleep off. Only after 3 yrs, he slept for continuous 6-8 hrs at night. Even now during summer, he'll wake up atleast once in the night to drink water.
I am not scarring you, but for few kids, it's just a habbit of waking up i guess!
Make your child play and be physically active during the day esp for few hours before she goes to bed. This way the child will sleep good at night so that they get enough rest !
hi again Puja,
Usually once a child reaches the 5kg wt, she can sleep for 6 to 7 hrs during the night
No two kids are same so one thing that works for 1 might not work for the other! But
there are a few basic rules , if one follows them , it helps in most of the cases -
1 During night hours keep the atmosphere of the bedroom quiet wid dim lights and all. Dont play/ talk with your child during this time.
2 Make a fixed bed time routine EG clean -feed- change diaper-sing lullaby, start as early as possible and do things in a fixed order every day while putting the child to sleep. I used to have a fixed type of songs that I used to sing for my baby while putting her to sleep.
3 Feed the baby immediately before putting her to sleep.
4 If the baby gets up in the middle of the night wanting feed, feed her but keep the lights dimmed and dont talk or play with the child during this time!
Whatever you do PLEASE DONT START TOP MILK OR SOLI DS TBEFORE YOUR BABY IS 6 MONTHS! Exclusive breast feeding is best for your baby till 6 mo of age.

kids are little angels.don't be in a hurry to impose the worldly routine on them. that may impair their natural growth.sleep ,appetite and bowel are the natural demands of body.So we should enjoy this phase of child's development.I think this will be your direct appreciation of GOD.
