You can start solid food from 4-6 months of your baby depending on the baby's weight and milk intake. Consult your paediatrician before you start.

You can start with rice poridge, raagi poridge. Cook them well, mix water/milk and make a poridge with salt/sugar and feed the baby. Initially the baby will take milk as the main food. So even after you feed solids, continue with the milk to complete one feed.

You can then start with fruit and vegetable juices. After sometime, you can mash the fruits, cook and mash the vegetables and feed.

You get cerelac, nestum food also which you'll mix with water/milk and feed the baby. Make sure that you buy the correct stage food - it'll be marked as 1,2,3 for different stage and age of the baby.

You can give dal also. Cook it really well, mash it and then mix with rice and feed the baby.

Do not introduce more than one food (be it a cereal, fruit, vegetable etc) per day. This will help you find out if your baby doesn't take any food by watching the side effects - cold, gas problems etc.

please be careful about sugar contents in ready made cereal, mostly there is a lot! it may damage babies teeth and is not considered healthy but company nestle is still adding a lot in the commonly available brands because it makes babies sleep nicely for the nights. Salt can be a health hazard for small babies! Try to avoid completely if baby is less thn 6 months. after that use very sparingly. other spices and herbs are much safer than salt. even chilli taste the breastfeed baby would already know. so do not hesitate from putting a little daniya or curry leave in dal or rice once the baby got used to single flavours.

Answers from Natural childbirth and lactation consultant,Pediatrician- Dr.Shacchee Khare Baweja

My son of age 5 's urine is always surrounded by ants. Is he diabetic? Bcoz my father and grandparents are diabetic. I'm not. Please help me.

If your son is otherwise fine, Urine surrounded by ants is no indication that someone is diabetic , this is quite a common feature, but because diabetes runs in families so whenever you visit your paediatrician next do discuss your family history with him so that he/she  can keep a watch.
