Hi all,
I am new to this site and very happy to become a member in chennaimoms.com.
I would like to get a suggestion to search a job in non-IT field.
Actually I am a B.E-comp.science graduate and have 7 years of IT-software experience. I have no other option than to quit my job few months ago to complete the court proceedings (i need to go to the family court almost everyday during case completion) to get my divorce. it was because I got married for 7yrs now to a psycho who ruined my life. They cheated us by hiding his mental health condition, financial condition and job details. I was leading a very bad life with him for 3.5 yrs and took all possible steps -medically and traditionally to treat his mental condition.but i didnt suceed as he didnt co-operate with the treatment.suddenly when he became very ,very violent, i had no other way than to come to my parent's house to save my life. Now its almost 3.5 yrs that the case got over and right now i am searching for a job.
Though it may sound childish to most of you, I am looking for a non-IT job. In IT field, they provide handsome package at the cost of our health (physical and mental stress),irregular work timings and personal life. I am 30 yrs old now and my parents are searching alliance to get me married. In my last job in that famous MNC, i leave home by 7-30Am and come back by 9.30PM and do no work at home at all. It was my mother who prepare both breakfast and lunch by 7Am and i was literally useless to my family members at that time.Due to high work pressure and irregular work timings, my parents health condition and the divorce case, i was forced to quit my job as i had exhausted all the leave balance.
And i think that now i should give first preference to my personal life and then to my professional life. So i have chosen to shift my career to non-IT side so i can concentrate more on my future family life and enjoy the pleasure. Many of you might think why cant i just be a house wife? It is very difficult to be a home maker after working for almost 7yrs and women would be respected only if they have a job in their hands.
So,pls advice or suggest or guide me to search a job in non-IT field. Salary is not a constraint at this point, though i was earning 6 lacs per annum in my last job. Awaiting all the chennai mom's advice to take my professional career ahead.
Thanks in advance
-Anitha
HAI ANITHA! SORRY TO READ THE PROBLEMS IN YOUR LIFE. YOU DID A GOOD THING BY NOT PUTTING UP WITH THE MAN WHO IS MENTALLY DERANGED.
NOW FOR THE JOB PROSPECTS.ONLINE TEACHING IS ONE GOOD OPTION THAT YOU CAN BUILD YOUR CAREER ON.THERE ARE MANY ONLINE TEACHING FIRMS THAT HIRE TEACHERS WITH WORK EXP. THERE IS NO COMPULSION THAT YOU SHOULD BE A TEACHER.GOOD KNOWLEDGE OF THE PARTICULAR SUBJECT IS ENOUGH.YOU CAN WORK ANY NO OF HOURS FROM HOME.SINCE YOU HAVE NO OTHER COMMITMENTS YOU CAN CONCENTRATE ON YOUR JOB.
TRY tutorvista.com THEY ARE HIRING TEACHERS IN TECHNICAL SUBJECTS LIKE YOURS.BUT THEY HAVE A RIGOUROUS SELECATION AND TRAINING PROCESS. IF YOU CAN GET THROUGH THEN IT WILL BE GOOD.TRY APPLYING THERE.
ALSO BROWSE TROUGH GOOGLE AND YOU WILL SEE THAT MANY VISTAS OPEN UP.
ALL THE BEST.
Anita,
I am glad that you are out of your problems now. It is sometimes just not worth it to live with someone who is this way or who does not respect you.
Why dont you update your resume and visit a couple of good consultancies like Mafoi, Adecco, ABC etc. Explain to them that you would like to switch to a different industry and your skillsets. There maybe various departments such as HR/Admin/Secretarial etc that you may find some suitable placement. Also update your resume on Naukri and Monster and any other job sites and keep looking up for any vacancies. Apart from what Sapna has suggested, why dont you try www.shinekids.in where they require English tutors on a full time or part time basis. They have a few centres in the city and this is to teach kids. Alternatively, if you like being with kids, why dont you try some big Day care centres/Play schools etc to go as a teacher/coordinator.
Lastly, although I totally agree that it will be very difficult to be a homemaker after working for 7years, I dont think a woman would be disrespected if they are homemakers. Infact, it is such a difficult job to be a homemaker than someone who works. It is also a thankless job.
Good luck with your search.
Hi Anitha,
I'm also new to this community. Good thing, u passed a bad time in ur life. Hope the coming days will bring joy and cheers to you.
Thanks ladies for ur answers. I'm also a PG in CS. Had experience in IT as well as teaching. But after few years of break, want to go back to work. Particularly in teaching. In chennai schools, what will be the qualification and how many years of exp. a candidate should have to try for teaching post. I have BSc Degree in math and have MCA degree. Don't have B.Ed/M.Phil.
Planning to do B.Ed. But confused whether to go with Math or CS. Ur kind advice please....
hi anitha, nice that u took a very good decision ..according to me teaching will be a very good option that too till 7 or 8 class. once u get into it i am sure u will enjoy dealing with students meeting ur co teachers at the same time u can concentrate on ur family too without disturbing them.since u handle lower classes there will not be work pressure also. try this and my best wishes for a happy future.
Teaching... either in a school or remote (from home) should be good... you can check the post made about tutorvista.com in Cmoms...
Congratulations that u r out of the hell now
Now that u r on ur way to recovery,be cheerful...all the time..dont self pity urself.
be brave
Now ,w rto career , if u r interested in teaching ,aim for lecturership in engg colleges and polytechnics, plenty of oppurtunities are avl
If u r still in the age bracket to try for govt jobs /banks ,try the websites of public sector banks/UPSC/TNPSC, govt jobs are more secure and gives lot of leave entitlements to give attention to ur personal life.
dont be bogged down by defeatism
try hard and u ll be successful
live life to the fullest
all the best
Hi Anitha,
Welcome to Cmom's..
Past is past. And now your thinking of present & future is always welcomed.
Better try for Administration jobs as well as teaching too.
These two are the best options I feel.......
Hi Anitha....
Even i feel that u could try teaching .... being with kids will be a good diversion for you...
Put your past behind... All the very best for ur future...
Regards,
Ramya
