Tags : stammering problem
My son is 4 yrs old. He is studying JKG now... Quite recently i started to notice that he has a problem while speaking.. That is ... he stresses on a word for a long time... first i thought that since this is the age when they try to grasp as many things as possible, he is having the problem of expressing it out... that too he tries to speak in malayalam(Mother Tongue), tamil, english,at times Hindi too.... Asked his Paediatric tooo... he said not to worry as they take time to clear out things... For Eg: when he tells the alphabets he will stress on L for some time and then continue... after a few days of cajoling he slowly tells the alphabets correctly.. but somewhere else it pops up... it is not quite frequently occuring too.... Spoke to one of my Cousins who is into speech therapy... she suggested me to wait for 2 months and then see a doc...
can c'moms give opinion please ?
He is still a kid, normally it happens with these age group children. When they are not confident about what they talk they hesitate and that sometimes sounds like a stammer. Whereas they might not be actually stammering. If you are in doubt you can take him directly to a speech therapist and get it clarified. At times when kids feel insecure also they stammer but that may be only for sometime. There is no need to panick. Get it cleared asap so that u can feel free or start treatment if need be, either way it is good to consult atonce.
I am no expert on this subject, but just a suggestion on this... please check with your pediatrician if he has a problem "tongue-tied"... sometimes due to this children face the so-called "stammering" problem. here is a link to understand this better..

it is a common issue and easily correctable
Thankyou Tame , and i am planning to take him to the doc in this summer vac... t
and Thankyou smitha for the link...
If your son is otherwise fine, Urine surrounded by ants is no indication that someone is diabetic , this is quite a common feature, but because diabetes runs in families so whenever you visit your paediatrician next do discuss your family history with him so that he/she can keep a watch.
Hi Natalia,
No 2 kids are same so u cannot compare him with your daughter, From what you have written, doesn’t looks like there is a problem, some kids start speaking late, so if his understanding of things and hearing is all right, don’t worry, just continue talking to him, reading to him and otherwise stimulating him and just relax and enjoy your babies!
