Hi Moms,

Am having a baby who is 7 months old and she is having a red bump/pimple in her cheek, it rose after 3 weeks of her birth. Dr. said that it will go away, but am really concerned as it is in her face, it is like a big dot.

Anybody experienced this ? any idea when it go away?

Please pour in your opinions/experience....

Many thanks!!

hi, if you feed your milk & if u wear synthetic materials like not soft one then also baby will get a pimple in her cheeks and before and after your feed you have to clean your breast in a cotton with warm water.Wipe it with cotton. i had the same problem when my baby was 4 or 5 mths old and i used soft nighties (soft materials) and then he didnt have any dots in cheeks, and also consult doctor , dont ever hesitate to go to doctor forchild health.

hi .. do u give any ayurvedic medicine ( lik neem water/jadhika/masika)... if u giv all this .. it can result in body heat and anti bodies will cause red bumps..

o/w don worry .. jus clean face n u can apply (calosoft.. or some calamine .. )..red bumps will not cause any mark .. don worry .. n as u said ur doc said nothin to worry .. so don worry ..

n always wear neat n pressed cotton clothes (avoid dettol.. ) n use a gud soap .. u get pears for kids .. which is a mild n gud one ..

Thanks for your comments anjana and sangita... it is not just rash like anjana said , it is baby acne which is common for new borns and usually it go away that's wat i read fr internet and my dr. said, just i thought of throwing this question to moms like me, so that you might faced or had seen somewhere in your circle. But thanks again i am hoping to get it cured. As it is in cheek it is more visible when you first glimpse at her. :-(

Am in boston, usa , so u know the weather wont permit us to wear nighties/sarees and all. And more over i pump and my mom feeds her in bottle and she always wear bips when she take milk / food, .. milk spillage may cause rashes like what you said. But she is not having rashes , its red bump that came after she born.

thanks for your thoughts again....

Hello kidslovelymom - this is very common for babies born in US. Its baby acne like you mentioned and common way to calm it down is to use mild cleansers (cetaphil or eucerin) and not to use harsh soap on the skin, and to keep the skin moist with moisturizers and humidifiers at home this will help the skin to not become dry.

Your pediatrician knows best, just follow her direction. Though it sounds ironic - avoid use of full body oil bath and use of talcum powders like we do for babies in India that are considered common skin irritants for dry skin conditions here.  These will clear up fast as the baby develops.

good luck and enjoy your new bundle of joy !!

hi,

I have one year old girl baby with the same problem. I live in detroit. she has one in her tummy and the other one in her head. it is like a strawberry in her tummy and she got this by birth itself. but the one on head came one week after her birth and it is a small pea size and red in color and bumpy. Dr said it is the blood vein on which the skin is not covered and it will fade away as she grows around 1 and 1/2 years.

Answers from Natural childbirth and lactation consultant,Pediatrician- Dr.Shacchee Khare Baweja

My son of age 5 's urine is always surrounded by ants. Is he diabetic? Bcoz my father and grandparents are diabetic. I'm not. Please help me.

If your son is otherwise fine, Urine surrounded by ants is no indication that someone is diabetic , this is quite a common feature, but because diabetes runs in families so whenever you visit your paediatrician next do discuss your family history with him so that he/she  can keep a watch.
