Dear jothi,

Congrats on buying a new oven. Is your oven with grill and convection?

These items can be prepared in the oven if you follow the guidelines for each cooking mode.

1. Rice (start with less quantity...1:2 1/2 ratio in microwave 100%)

2. Kootu (veg/dhall preparation)

3. Poriyal (veg dry preparation)

4. Tea (ofcourse we can boil milk)

5. Sweet pongal or the normal white pongal

6. Rasam

7. Cakes

8. Muffins and bread

9. Fruit spread, that is jam...( I make my own fruit spread...)

10. Payasam (dessert)

So which receipe you want? No, the taste does not change as far as the measurements for  the required quantity is right. It is always better to read the user manual to know about your oven (there are many types of ovens with different specification)

Happy cooking!

Hi siva...

You can make carrot halwa in the microwave very easily.Grate the carrots finely and put them in the microwave resistant container (ceramic, china ware, heat resistant glass ware and stone ware are best.) Choose power 100% and cook in micro for 15 min with lid. Then stir and see whether it is half cooked. You can also add little milk (15 ml) to this. It is optional. Mix well and cook for another 5 min. Now add sugar according to sweetness. Usually 2:1 ratio. Again in micro power 70 cook for 10 mim. You can now see the both sugar and carrots are in a halwa consistency. Roast kaju and raisin with ghee and add to this mixture.

Happy eating....

hi jothi,

I think you have chosen the convection mode. Do you have combination cooking mode. That is convection and mircro. If so...then you choose this mode. If you do not have, then decrease the time by 5 to 10 min. Round china ware is better than square becos the corners get extra baked. Hey....you can watch cooking videos in www.vahrevah.com. There are many baking receipes and tips for microwave cooking.

Happy cooking......
