Vani, when we had recently visited an optician for my hubby's lenses, i enquired about laser surgery. I was told it is not exactly a permanent remedy. Since my is over 30, he was told that the vision problem would come back when ur 40, so again u wud have to wear lenss or glasses. So we decided not to opt for it. he wear lenses

So i guess, depending on ur age, and the type of vision correction u need, u will be given suggestion.

Sankara Nethralaya is supposed to the hospital for it, and i think it costs around 30k.

Also, chek if re imb is available, since it is treated as a cosmetic surgery...

I would suggest you to try with contact lense ....I am using it for past 8 - 9 years .....I have not faced any problem with that ....with laser surgery ...i came to know that it is not a remedy permanently ....few said even after that we r in need of specs ...and the doctors just say it is a minor treatment and u can be normal ....

but heard that it is very much paining for more than 3 days ....and it is unbearable ...

so best go for lense ..

• first few days you will feel bit difficult to wear it ....u may have the fear of loosing it or dropping it ....once u got used to it ....no problem at all...
• few points we have to follow it stirctly...that's it ...

so go for contact lense ....only problem in chennai is - kanulla doosi villum ..,,, when u go out deff. u need plain glass ....or else it is best ....

I recenly visited Sankara nethralaya for the laser treatment and the doctor said that the vision problem wont be cured fully.. atleast 0.2/0.3 power will be there, but our eye will get adjusted to that power.. and the cost will come around 38,000 - 40,000 for 2 eyes..

In sankara nethralaya, First they will do pre LASIK assessment approx it will take 2 hrs..

They will check for corneal thickness, No eye pathology, stable vision in last 6
months to 1 year, If all meets then they will recommend for the treatment(2 types of treatment are there 1. Lasik , 2. Epi-Lasik )

My mom got it done it done in Udhi Eye Hospital in Alwarpet and I dont remember how much it worked out to. She is so much more happier after wearing contacts for more than 10yrs.

• I have been wearing monthly diposable contacts for 10yrs now...no problem....it is irritating to remove it at night or whenever u wanna take a nap ...and the insecure feeling when u don't wear them( I have an extra pair of glasses when i don't wear my lens)....works out to Rs.3000 per year
• not very sure of laser treatment though my hubby wants to try it....

Hi,

I had my Lasik Surger @ Vasans one year ago. Today I am pretty comfortable living a live without spectacles / contact lens.

 Even though all cases won't get zero correction. But the vision after lasik is better and is enough. .
