Bharatmomsmother- AnithaMadhan question

Another question on kid's development. As you all know, my son turned 1 last week. But he is yet to stand on his own. He stands with support for couple of minutes but I was told that he should stand without support by now. During the development assessment, they told us that we need to give him lot of practice for standing. I am making him stand with support whenever I am at home but I am not sure if that's sufficient. I am worried about this. My MIL keeps telling in a sarcastic tone that all other kids his age are walking and this kid is not even standing. When I hear that, I feel very bad.

He was sick for the first 4 months. His birth weight was 3.27 Kgs but he reached 4 Kg only after 4 months. He was affected with Urinary infection twice in 3 months. He was given lot of antibiotics and with the help of the paed and GOD's grace, he is now in the normal weight range. Right now, my only worry is that he is not walking / standing. Anyone else faced similar problem? How did you resolve it? What should I do to help him to stand / walk?

u can buy him something like Thallu vandi and make him walk by holding on to it...

Even my bro's son was walking jus holding on to walls but now he is the best runner at our home jus flis inthe air...

Each kid are different ma. I know a doctor friend who started walking only when he was two .. so just dont worry. whenever you get time take him outside (with a soft shoe ) & make him hold you & walk . ( dont try this when your MIL is around , as you are not able to feel comfortable with her comments ..)  nearby if any park is there take him & make him see all kids walking & playing , with his age group kids doing funny things he will pickup very fast ..

Doctors sometime talk greek in telling the right things & right exercise for the right age ... dont bother to take in to your mind ok .. next month put a blog on how much trouble he gives you by running all around the house . ok ...

Thanks moms for all the assuring words. I always believe I am giving my best to my kid. But sometimes, when people like my MIL pass some comments like these, I feel as if I am not giving my time for my kid. Have to start practising to ignore other's comments. Let's see
