Dear moms,

I have a 4 & 1/2 months son....and I started back to my work, 15 days ago. As my workplace is near to my home , I go in the afternoon...,feed him , and come back. But now i think , its better to give some alternate in between..., especially in the afternoon period. My pediatrecian says...to give ' Ragi sari ' , and not to give any other type of milk ( Nandini etc,) or other products.

Please give your valuable suggestions.

Hi Jyothi,

I don't know what Ragi sari means but if it is the same as Ragi kanji(in tamil) i.e ragi +different grains then u can give..but my ped asked me to start alternate only by 6months...it depends i guess.

The alternate foods i gave my little one were

-rice and moong dal fried and powdered and then made into porridge.

-boiled apples

-cerelac

consult ur elders at home before going about with home made things as they have better knowledge

gud luck

hi shilpa & uma,

thanx for ur answrs...

Uma, ' Ragi sari' is also like porridge ; ragi is soaked for 6-8 hours , left for sprouting for another 8 hrs and then dried in shade only for 5-6 days(inside house) ..., then it is powdered & sieved in a white muslin cloth. this fine white powder is used to prepare poridge, adding little milk & jaggery.

when the baby is above 6 mnths , we add wheat, green grams etc to it.

Answers from Natural childbirth and lactation consultant,Pediatrician- Dr.Shacchee Khare Baweja

My son of age 5 's urine is always surrounded by ants. Is he diabetic? Bcoz my father and grandparents are diabetic. I'm not. Please help me.

If your son is otherwise fine, Urine surrounded by ants is no indication that someone is diabetic , this is quite a common feature, but because diabetes runs in families so whenever you visit your paediatrician next do discuss your family history with him so that he/she  can keep a watch.
