hi, i'd suggest you check with your pediatrician first. It's okay if your baby is a little below normal in weight as long as all other signs are normal. Some children have a metabolism that's different from others. As long as all his other signs are normal, there shouldn't be any reason to worry. Also, if your doctor says all's well, then you have your answer. Cerelac is to be given to children once they are at an age when they can start eating. Why take an unnecessary risk with his digestive system? Hope this helps. Cheers and take care!

Thanks Buddies for ur replies...

Actually my ped asked me to give porridge made out of rice prepared at home, but i thought cerelac will be much better than that as it contains some added minerals and nutritions and also she might like the taste of it.. Thats the reason I wanted to know if I can use Cerelac as substitue for the home made porridge.

No don't give ur child cerelac atleast before she is 5 months old. My doctor told me that normally we start cerelac or smashed fruits or dal ka paani only after 6 months but if the mother is working then they allow it to start at the age of 5 month. If u start early then her disgestive system will be not properly working and will face problem in future.

Then can i start giving home made rice porridge instead of cerelac as per my ped's advice? It is made out of rice grains and channa dal thoroughly dried and powder, and boiled in water. Can i give her this as per my ped's advice? though he has recommended me this porridge at this early stage I am still scared to give it to my little one, that is why I wanted to check with all of u before i start it.. u people might be experienced than me, since I am a new mom

Actually at 3 months ,  you should give her milk only, and from 4-5 month , u can start giving rice porridge etc. Children have very delicate digestive system and we need to be careful .

Answers from Natural childbirth and lactation consultant,Pediatrician- Dr.Shacchee Khare Baweja

My son of age 5 's urine is always surrounded by ants. Is he diabetic? Bcoz my father and grandparents are diabetic. I'm not. Please help me.

If your son is otherwise fine, Urine surrounded by ants is no indication that someone is diabetic , this is quite a common feature, but because diabetes runs in families so whenever you visit your paediatrician next do discuss your family history with him so that he/she  can keep a watch.
