My son was addicted to tv. He will switch it on as soon as he wakes up, will switch it on as soon as he comes back from school, will sleep off watching tv.

For about a month our dish had a problem and we didnt set it right to bring my son out of addiction. Fortunately my sil kids were in our home and they all played together without watching TV. That was a turning point, thereafter my son watches tv only when he is bored... otherwise he finds something to play with.

So my suggestion would be to keep him busy with play. If he has companions in your apartment, neighbours, it'll be great. Otherwise you can enroll him in after-school activities which will keep him away from TV.

 After school activities will  be the best remedy....for e.g. karate classes, or basketball coaching, dance& music,painting...anything whatever interest your kid. Please take care that you dont get him overworked or get him into some activity he does not enjoy. Try giving him more of your personal time, and try spending time with him by playing some nice mind games, informative games, or you can take him out shopping with yourself etc.  Try making him go out to play outdoors.
